Bama will have their hands full trying to contain Robinson, hopefully the D is ready for him.

I like Coach Saban's record against top-ranked, "explosive" QBs.  You take away their option to run and suddenly they can't throw!

One of the keys seems to be the controlled rush.  The "ends" never rush deeper than the QB, keeping him hemmed in and trapped.

I agree, I noticed Jessie Williams many times last year not really going after the QB but putting enough pressure in the middle to hurry his throws. I think they like to use the word containment for this and it does seem to work. But I also noticed that when Bama wanted the QB, the DL and LBs looked like a runaway train coming after him.

True.  I can't wait to see Jesse pushing up the middle, which should keep QBs from stepping into throws.  The little QBs, like Michigan's, may be a problem with their scampering, but I'm hoping that "containment" works well enough that we control the game.  Bama by 14.

Bama wins easily against Michigan precisely because of Mr #2 Excitement.  Robinson was under 50% completion ratio is 6 games last year, and he is not tall enough to effectively find passing lanes.  Without a passing lane, he pretty much shot put the football last year to his receivers, the best of which has graduated.  While Michigan's OL is pretty good, containing Robinson, and having a LB key on the run, should keep Michigan behind the 50 yard line for most of the game.

Still, the list looks pretty lame to me.  The Honey Badger?

Containment is a good description of the controlled rush CNS likes to use against mobile QB's that like to scramble. The rush is designed with "lanes" similar to kickoff coverage. Everyone has to stay in their lane and never go deeper than the QB. One guy gets out of his lane and the QB is gone. This sounds simple but each blitz package has different assignments.

I wouldn't give Michigan even 17.  More like 35 to 0.  Michigan managed maybe 160 yards of offense in the Sugar Bowl against VT's defense.

Boom. And Boom. E-cred all around. "Denied" Robinson is not a worry.
