Around Campus / The Quad / Re: KoKoPuf's Random Thoughts 10/18

1. Trent Richardson needs to put up some big numbers the rest of the season to have a chance at the Heisman. Media seems to be pushing QB's, particularly Luck & Jones. Ole Miss game gave TR a boost and the video of TR juking the DB out of his jock really helped. Big performance against LSU is probably critical to TR's chances.
2. No SEC QB, possible exception of Tyler Wilson at Arkansas, has played as well as AJM this season. Just keep it going for the rest of the year.
3. If Missouri joins the SEC just put them in the East. MO borders TN and KY who are both in the East and I can see a good natural rivalry with UT.
4. I know they lost their QB and had to pay Bama & LSU back to back, but Florida just doesn't look well coached to me. Way too many mistakes and general look of disorganization. Muschamp gets one more year but things better greatly improve or he will be back to being a head coach in waiting.
5. Same for Jimbo Fisher at FSU. What the h*** has happened? And it is the ACC folks! Not like they are going head to head with teams in a football conference.
6. Larry Grantham has to be on a short leash at UGA. Embarrassment to CMR at a time when he really doesn't need it.
I've enjoyed reading your thoughts. My comments: #1 You're right that he needs big numbers. "The Juke" really helped him, but all eyes will be watching the Who game. The west coast and northeast voters will have to be won over and right now they’re lovin’ some Luck. If they see the TR we know and love it may sway some votes. #2 Yep. After Kent State I was concerned. After Penn State I was hopeful. After Arky I was feeling good. After the Gators (who was coming in on a roll and in the Swamp) I felt we were watching a very good QB form before our eyes. #3 My thoughts on Mizzou is ….meh. I prefer a North Carolina team but that’s probably remote. If it is Mizzou I hope you are correct, they go to the east. At any rate it will be way too many tiggers. #4 Before the Bama game I was really impressed with the job Muschamp had done. But after about 7 minutes playing with the gator toy, Bama took the wheels off the gator wagon took their lunch money. #5 Before the season I couldn’t figure out why the media was so high on Jimbo & FSU. He’s recruited well for 2 years now and they will likely be better in a few years but Jimbo is no Nick Saban. #6 I respect CMR but he has trouble keeping everyone around him out of trouble. From the AD to his coaches to his players. He needs to man up and take control of his program. Fin

I think Nick has been underrated. When he’s in, it seems like he is always disrupting the QB. I’ve been impressed by his play last year and this year. It just goes back to the depth this defense has.

Poole seems like a fine young man. A lot of guys would have taken those questions and talked trash but he was refreshingly honest. He’s not backing down, just knows it will take everything they have to stay in the game. He even seemed concerned about the future of the rivalry if 10RC keeps getting blown out. Unusual coming from a Vol. We’ve come to expect only thugs who can’t spell their own name, much less the word orange. I wish him well.
That said, Poole is the one who broke Bama’s string of games not allowing a 100 yard runner. I hope the “D” remembers that.

"Alabama at Mississippi: To make sure Alabama's players are appropriately dressed for Saturday's visit to Ole Miss and The Grove, T-Town Menswear is giving a 100 percent discount on all merchandise accompanied by a player's autograph. In other words: it's business as usual. Alabama -25"
Who is this brett butthead? Is he a barner or something? He certainly don’t mind pulling his pants down and showing his jealousy....and ignorance.

Around Campus / The Quad / Re: NCAA says Auburn had no major violations, ends investigation
|

This is beyond bizarre. How many times has the NCAA EVER looked into a program for 13 months and not found ANYTHING? Something just doesn't add up with this whole deal. There is a good bit of, "As with any case, should the enforcement staff become aware of additional credible information, it will review the information to determine whether further investigation is warranted" from the NCAA right now. Also, how many times has the NCAA ever issued a school a letter like this? I would seriously like to know, if anyone can find anything. I'm thinking that the boogs are making much ado about nothing to try to cast their program in a better light.
Maybe their investigators were just tired of cows, fat women, and those crummy motels in Boogerland. I was asked once what constitutes a motel down in boogerland. It’s really a trick question but here’s the proper answer: If the trailers are shoved up against each other end to end, then it’s a motel. If the trailers are stacked on top of each other, then it’s condos.

WV is correct. How can they survive that kind of logistics when a “sellout crowd” is like 50k. I still maintain Boise’s best fit would be the Big 12...er..10..uhh 9. But, the one thing they have in common is they are both talking big but looking for minor competition.

All the spots on 'The Quad' are taken. If they're occupying somebodies tailgating spot, they will end up getting their ass beat! I am sure they will be out numbered by thousands.
Alabama fans take their football and tailgating seriously.
sidewalks Denny Chimes the step of Gorgas There are plenty of places that will not be occupied. they will end up getting their ass beat!
Worst possible outcome. BAMA ^^^^This^^^^ Anything that gets them TV time is a win for them. To get ignored is the worst thing that can happen for them.

I think if Missouri comes to the SEC then Boise should go to the Big 12. They’ve hung their hat on beating OU for what, 7 years or so? Play them every year, right after playing Texas and Okie St. Then we’ll take them seriously.

|

None taken.
ECU would most likely beat Ole Miss 9 out of 10 times. They are certainly no worse than vandy, msu, um and uk during their average seasons.
Ta&m does not really impress me and has not for a long time. I am very unimpressed by their joining conference. Ta&m is going to be the biggest beneficiary of joining the SEC.
What is holding ECU back is Conference USA. You put ECU into a big conference like the SEC and they improve dramatically. They consistently beat the Carolina teams of the ACC in football.
Good points, especially about Conference USA. Southern Miss used to be a great 2nd tier team until they joined C-USA. And I love North Carolina, it’s a great market, TV and recruiting.
