VERY ugly situation. Heyward hit in the face and was spitting blood. Hit by fastball that rode in on him. Hate to say it, but something has to be broken.

I just saw on ESPN that Heyward has a broken jaw and will be out 4-6 weeks.  Sad

He was hitting .370 with 5 hr's, 15 rbi's, & .433 OBP since being lead-off hitter. Plus, he is a solid right fielder.

This is just terrible, the Braves must be a magnet for injuries. Schafer will move into his spot in the outfield but Heyward really had a hot bat going for him. Schafer has lots of speed but I don't know if he can hit good enough for the 1 position. If only B J Upton would get his bat going.

So far injuries has really not ruin the Braves so maybe not this time. I think every time something goes bad somebody steps up and becomes the bat man. RTR!

It looks lilke BJ has been benched in favor of Schafer, so maybe someone else will fill in for Heyward.

The good news is that the Braves have built a huge division lead, haven't slowed down since the injury to Hudson, and Heyward should be back in time for the playoffs.  They should hold on and claim the division title and still have a very good shot at entering the playoffs as the top team in NL.

Good point. There is a lot of talent on this team. The pitching, alone, should carry them through.

Heyward just can't buy a break. All these other injuries he has had, and now this. You have to wonder what he would be capable of if he actually was able to play an entire season injury free.
