I know I don't come here often, but I would love to make a suggestion.  Taz was such a huge part of Bama football forums and such a true and tried fan who truly loved the Crimson Tide.  In honor of such a huge fan and an even greater man, why don't we rename one of the member levels after him.  I think it would be a huge tribute to him.  God bless.

good idea...even though this is my first time posting on this forum....might I suggest also an idea of naming a forum after him? he WAS the "halftime" forum on tidesports. is there a forum here that = halftime from tidesports that could be nammed for Taz?  Wonderful idea Jody.

I have been thinking about both of these suggestions the last couple of days.  We definitely should do something, but I wanted to give it a little time first.

Right now, if you have 1 post, you are at the ed level.  When you get to 2 posts, you are at the gilmer level.  Maybe after gilmer, we have a new "slacker" level.

I'm open to other suggestions as well.

Football is big at Alabama. Our players and coaches are legends. Fans are a dime a dozen and we don't ask for special recognition to be one. I know it may be hard for y'all to understand. We have a HOF Board just for these purposes, but our focus remains on the guys in Crimson. HTH

I miss my two e-freinds very much. I would like to see them honored in some way but I have to agree with WV's comment. The HOF Board is were we should recognize HOF posters.

Point taken. I agree.

I disagree with one point:  "fans are a dime a dozen".  This is true in general, but I put the posters here in a different category than your average nut job, tea bagging sports fan (with a couple of exceptions of course... you decide who those exceptions are).  Laughing

Having said that, I am fine with just putting a couple of threads in the HOF.  I purposely waited a couple of days to have this discussion to give everyone time to get over the shock.  I do appreciate the sentiment and the suggestions in the first 2 posts though.

Ok, One thing about this bothers me and it's this: Taz was not born with the physical advantages the "guys in Crimson" were.  His heart was all Bama though.  Those players go there 90 percent of the time with the eye on the NFL.  Even if they don't make it, they get a free college ride.  Taz gave his heart to Alabama with nothing in return except the enjoyment of the Crimson Tide.  Some players give their all, some don't.  If he had been born with the physical abilities of some of these kids he could have been the greatest who ever played.  I won't worship an 18 year old boy because he was blessed by God with the ability to play football well.  What you make out of what gifts you were given is more a mark of your character than the gifts God chose to give you.

PS: I know some very private details about one of "the greats" in crimson and despite everyone thinking he's a stand up guy I can tell you he's a heel, a phony, and a crappy human being.  So no...no player or coach worship here.

I'll bet you will be happier on the Jerry Springer board where you can run down all the Tide players you want. HTH

just a thought, on the old tide sports board, no matter how dark the day was, I always looked forward to seeing Taz's hopping frog...it ALWAYS put a smile on my face.......could we put his hopping frog along with Coach's avitar in the section "who's online"......put them to the right side?

If I wanted to run someone down, believe me I could.  I choose not to do that...and not because I respect the person who is doing it.  I'm sure every college program has some like him lurking around- that's life.  The "dime a dozen" remark rubs me the wrong way.  The players are JUST kids and they grow up to be JUST people like the rest of us.  It's fun to watch but a 20 year old boy is not going to be my hero and his life has no more value than anyone else's.  Sorry if that's not hardcore enough for you but the point where I mourn more for a celebrity or public figure than a real person I've interacted with is the point where I will reevaluate my priorities.

That's an interesting idea. I think I like that. Like you said, kind of like they are always with us.

Sad I am sure the last thing Taz or Hank would have wanted would have to caused disagreement between the members here.  Sorry but that is just my take on it.
