Well I will give my first opinion here. This language change seems totally out of kilter. If a person can not understand "Thou shalt not steal" what does it matter how many different words you use. The person is not going to obey and next, try changing the doctrine of the Word first is wrong. Satan seems to have eased someone's thinking more toward what he wants things to say so can easily ruin more of Gods' Word. If the Bible 3000 people in one day written as it is, then I see no changes needed. Your either going to read it and obey or you are not. "Satan get thee behind me." Praise the name of Jesus Christ.

I'm with Ricky on this one.  I mean, if God said it then that should be good enough for everyone for all time.  Who am I that I feel the need to reword God's word?

Unless you read Hebrew you are reading a translated version of the bible. Some translations are very good. I prefer the NIV because it is easier for me to read and understand. This "New and Improved" version of The Ten Comandments misses the mark IMO. The Ten Commandments are not difficult to read or understand. Most English translations are very similar. This text varies too far and can be interpreted entirely different. I don't like it.

I am glad KoKoPuf brought it up here. It let's us see how easy things can get switched to harm rather than to good. I am not blaming KoKoPuf at all but the writer is wrong and the reader will be even more wrong after he interprets how easily it leads him away. God Bless!

Guys, I'm not endorsing these by any means! I think it is beyond stupid but it does show what the popular culture is drifting toward.

This thread has a lot of potential if taken tongue in cheek as most serious believers will. For instance, I am not sure they haven't confused Satan with Santa. Don't dis your Momma!

I met a gentleman that wrote a book about the changed meanings of the  words as they were  being translated for the Bible . I believe his name is Harry Ellegood .
I have a copy of the book around here somewhere , he even autographed
it for me , very interesting stuff to say the least ...

as far as the 10  Commandments ... what's next ? a rap version ?

I'm not surprised at this at all, the acceptance of same sex marriages did me in with our laws of today.

I think pmull is spot on. Unless you can read the original Hebrew and Greek, you are never going to get EVERY word in the Bible correct when translated. However, the majority of translations out there (I personally used ESV) are as faithful to the original texts as possible without altering the concepts of the Bible. There may be a word or two here and there that is not correct, but the ideas and concepts are unchanged. That is my problem with this "new" 10 Commandments: its seems the message has been changed. Some of the commandment are written in negative verbiage (do not steal, do not murder, etc.) but others are very positive (honor you father and mother, remember the Sabbath and keep it holy). "Prosper with a clear conscience?" "Affair-proof your relationships?" Are they assuming people are too stupid to know what "do not commit adultery" and "do not steal" mean?

Thou Shalt not or,
Thou Shall not, to me means more in strength than simply a do not.
Go up to a teen today and say do not curse so much. Well I bet you don't get much strength out of those words. RTR!

Last year was the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible, renown for its beautiful language and for expressions that have stayed in our hearts. Why simplify such a powerful book?

I'm also against the new style of hymns that all sound alike to me.
