It has to be one of the most unexpected phenomena in the church today—that white middle-aged pastors are talking about rap music and, even more strangely, actually listening to it and recommending it. I don’t know that anyone would have or could have predicted it.

I certainly wouldn’t have predicted that I would be one of those middle-aged white guys. I love the music and am fascinated by the phenomenon (which is why I’ve written about it here and about the John Piper connection here). That is also why I’ve prepared this infographic: The Middle-Aged White Guy’s Guide to Christian Rap. Enjoy!

It's only through Challies' blog that I've recently been exposed to Christian rap.  I must say that so far I like what I'm hearing.  The lyrics are much, much theologically richer than most mainstream Christian music that's out there right now.  A couple of the songs I've found that I like are below.

Well we much first think back, that we should not be led astray by false doctrine. To this now I add, they may not be anything wrong with the lyrics but always remember that Satan was the Chief Musician and he has beautiful words and is very beautiful himself the Bible informs us.
I have seen a number of people pouring out tears and kneeling down before God when "Amazing Grace" was playing or "Just As I Am." Does this music get people Saved would be my question?
Remember I am not judging the music but we have to be careful to know who is actually supplying the music? JMHO. God Bless!

I am not familiar with Christian Rap but I am a little familiar with Christain Rock. Kids, teenagers and young adults love this stuff. As long as the lyrics are biblical I am 100% in favor of it. My 17 and 21 year old daughters went with a college age group from our church to Passion's Conference in Atlanta over Christmas break. It was primarily christian rock but they would pray, tell a testimony and spread the gospel every chance they got. My kids loved it.

As Ricky pointed out always beware of false teachings but christain rock and rap music is helping people get saved, especially young people.

I only listen to Christian rock.  Skillet, Red, Kutless, Decyfer Down, Disciple, Spoken, 12 Stones, Anberlin, Flyleaf, Fireflight, etc.

It is fantastic stuff.  There is an awesome radio station that I listen to over the internet out of Orlando.  It is 88.3 HD3 The Rock:  Click here for link

I used to listen to a lot of Christian rock, particularly Flyleaf.  It was actually four years ago today that I knew ministry was going to be my life's calling and it was buying Flyleaf's first album a few months earlier that set everything leading up to that in motion.

Recently though I mostly listen to sermons or seminaries lectures downloaded from iTunes.

My compliments brother. I wish more people would answer that call when it was spoken. God Bless!
