I believe I can build a custom layout that will be used if you connect to the forum with a smart phone.  I am trying to get an idea of how many people would use something like this.  I have used my phone to read and post to the forum, and it works OK for me.

I do when I get off work. I tend to not post much with my phone because we're still on the edge network so it is kinda slow so all I do is look at the topics and see if there is anything I haven't read. But if the site were optimized for a phone and that made the pages load faster on it I would probably use it a little more..

Thanks, for considering this, SC.  I had a bit more of a chance to look through the "tapatalk" app on my iPhone.  Apparently, forum moderators have to do "something" to get their respective forums on this application.  Wooly Al as well as TideFans, RollTideBama and others are listed as being iPhone "friendly".

Sorry to cause a headache.   Sad  If it's a pain, don't worry about it simply because I mentioned it.  I am but one person!   Wink

I looked at the website for tapatalk.  It looks interesting and it supposedly supports the forum software that I am using.  However our forum is highly customized, so I am not sure if that would be an issue.  I will put it on the to do list though to look into it further.

No, I just browse it through my normal phone browser on the Droid. SMF has a standard mobile site that comes installed by default. It just needs a little help to look better and function a little better. I wouldn't make it a high priority, just something that would be cool.

Have you used the standard one with this site?  I know it is there but I never looked at it.  I think there is something you have to tack on to the url to get it to use the mobile layout.

I have. It is ok, but leaves a lot to be desired. The worst part was the navigation.

I haven't tried to post on my iPhone yet, but I have read a couple of the items on the front page.  Since I'm frequently at long, boring meetings in the evenings I would definitely post if it was user friendly.
