Most of the worlds religions teach us that something inside a person continues living after death. Some even hold that the dead can harm the living or that God punishes the wicked by condemning them to an eternal torment in a fiery hell...

What the BIBLE does teach...is at death, human (mankind) cease to exist....
That grabbed me. And I told myself, to read further into Gods Holy word...I did.

From Ecclesiastes 9:5-10

I'm hoping to see my loved ones in Heaven, when I go. I hope and pray our Father and his son Jesus Christ will somehow make a change in what we perceive now. Pray

And from Psalms 146: 3,4...

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings, who cannot save.
4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.

God I love that man. Was brought up with him along w/the family as far back as I can remember. He is considered the "Moses" of our Biblical era...

God Bless Him...

Well he hit that one out of the park.

I will add that there are 2 types of death referred to in the bible, physical death and spiritual death.  I believe the scripture in the OP is referring to physical death, as evidenced by the phrase "under the sun" in there at least 3 times that I saw.  That scripture is a depiction of what happens to your physical body IMHO.  The bible tells us that spiritual death happens when our spirit is forever banished from God's presence if we are not reconciled through Christ.

Well I have this from the Bible also (of course mine is KJV):
1Thessalonians 4:13-18 (13) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope (14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. (16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (18) Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
You see God's Word gives directions when you die in the body the Soul still survives and at death it leaves for where you are bound. The Day of Judgement those who have not accepted Jesus Christ will be finally judged into Hell for eternity. God Bless!

We have to be careful about pulling doctrine from Ecclesiastes.  There are different interpretations of the book, but I tend towards reading 1:1 and 12:9-14 as a prologue and epilogue written by someone other than author of the body.  The author of the body, possibly Solomon but not certain, is writing as someone who has abandoned the pursuit of God for the pursuits of fleshly lusts and found them all meaningless and unfulfilling.  I read Ecclesiastes as a warning of the foolishness of pursuing worldly pleasure and knowledge written by someone who had spent most of his life doing so.

To me the whole key to the book is 12:9-14 where the "editor" essentially says, "Don't believe what you've just read.  Life is not meaningless, you do have a purpose."

Quote
13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.[c] 14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with[d] every secret thing, whether good or evil. - Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (ESV)
