Today we took our twins to their last tee ball game.  The coach was atrocious and didn't even show for the last game.  Anyway, during warm ups, a little kid tackled my son from behind and knocked him to the ground (4 years old).  He got up and started crying, so they brought him to me and said he didn't want to play.  I knew something was wrong and about every 5 minutes he just had a freakout fit like he was being swarmed by bees or something.  We took off his clothes looking for fire ants but only found 1 ant.  I noticed a big goose egg by his collar bone and redness around it.  I figured it was dislocated.

Took him to the ER and they said "nope, it's broken."  I can't believe you can break your bone falling on dirt like that, but they said with the drought here in TX our ground is so hard that low impact falls like this are causing worse injuries.  Gotta find an orthopedic doctor to see him within 2 days so we can make sure the bone is healing correctly.  In the meantime, I get to keep a 4 year old in a sling for 3 weeks.  He informed me he will not be able to pick up toys or take a bath because of his new physical limitation  Tongue

He's normally super dramatic, but he's being very stoic.  Codeine, I guess.  If we don't have him ruined petting on him by the end of the week, he will be ruined by the time we visit everybody for Thanksgiving.  I already broke out 2 Christmas presents to cheer him up.

Sorry to here about your baby being injured.

I broke my collarbone in 1980 from a motorcycle crash. 3 weeks later I was back at work.

Last year my daughter's boyfriend broke his playing ice hockey. He had to has surgery but is fine.

Hope he is fine!

Sorry to hear about that.  I broke my collar bone once.  The initial impact that caused the injury hurt, but there was really no pain by the next day.  Hopefully his won't hurt either while it heals.

Pray

My daughter broke her collarbone when she was about 2. She recovered very quickly and without much discomfort.

We live outside Houston and it's warm enough for Fall Ball here.  Our Little League made it to the world series last year, it's super serious here...we start spring baseball in January!

He'll heal fast. I've broken both my collar bones, once that I knew about, the other was discovered during an X-ray for a dislocated shoulder. It was scar tissue from a previous break. I've also dislocated both shoulders and both knees, multiple times. Turns out I'm a klutz.  Undecided

The ortho said it was a very stable break and gave him a much better sling...the other was huge.  He's feeling much better with the more secure sling.  I forced him to go to preschool today because yesterday he was asking me to fluff pillows and get him ice cream for lunch.  He was getting rurnt Smiley

I have to keep the southern strong here so these children don't become those bland homogenized suburb types.  The other thing I've been telling him is he's wearing on me like wet underwear  Cheesy

Laughing Must be a Texan expression. I have not heard that one. My favorite southern vernacular is "Yes ma'am" & "Yes sir". I beat those into my kids taught those strongly to my kids as they grew up.
