I think this was last Friday.  A 7-mile line of cars waited.





Purple=larkspur  Yes, that's snow on the ground.  The road where I took this pic was closed for 2 days after that evening.

Baby badgers.  The gray one is unusual.  I have a video of the mother carrying a ground squirrel to feed them.



I watched this wolf (#907F), a female whose babies were killed during May, for 2 hours.  At daybreak, when these pics were taken, she was eating a baby bison and carrying part of it across the Lamar River.  This was taken at 5:15am, so it's hard to tell, but she's wading shallow water.  Later she swam with it to the far bank.


Bison are weird.


"He said we're weird!"


Lots of bears.



I'm not posting a bunch of trout.  Use your imagination.

Monday June 24, 2019:

Great day fishing AND seeing bears.  Caught 14 trout despite the rough seas (10-15k winds).  We stayed until 2pm.  

Then on the way home, right at the West Yellowstone Airport exit from Hwy 191, a GRIZZLY BEAR RAN ACROSS THE ROAD.  Yes, right on a major highway.  I took pics of it in the woods (without getting out of the car).  I'm also including pics of other bears seen but not yet posted.  I've now seen 77 different bears (as best I could determine).  I've been careful not to count the same ones twice.

This is the grizzly that crossed Hwy 191.  Sorry for the poor quality, but it was drizzling and low light.



Here's a black bear I saw in YNP last week:


Huge cinnamon bear seen last week crossing the road along the Madison River.

Thanks Chechem for the pics. It is sunny and nice here today. Rained last night but don't see any today. Looking forward to hearing reports on practice now. RTR!

Went to Hebgen by myself this morning.  The fishing was so good that I'm going back tomorrow. 

I caught 21 trout and 2 whitefish.  That's the most trout in 2 years at Hebgen.  Excellent fishing, especially after 11:30.  If the wind stays calm long enough, the mayflies hatch and the trout start snapping.  WOOT!
