Saturday June 15th:

Zipped into the park for a visit.  Saw a black wolf at daybreak, and several of us watched him as he walked along the sagebrush in Lamar Valley.  Later I saw a fox and a coyote, so I had a "THREE-DOG DAY", one of the goals of seeing "dogs" in the park.  Saw a badger as I sat on my chair with my telescope, and watched lots and lots of babies: Pronghorns, Uinta Ground Squirrels, Elk, Bison, Grizzlies, Black Bears, etc.  Good day.

Newborn Pronghorn

Rains came, and the Bison walked in the road ("Road Rats").

If you've ever seen the Asians drive in YNP, then you know all animals here are endangered.

Sunday June 16th:

Best day yet at the lake.  I had 3 fish by 7am, and 14 by 11am.  Then the thunderboomers came, so I went home.  Excellent.  All but 4 were brown trout.

Check out the fog in the first few pics.

Monday June 17th:

Off to Lamar Valley at 4:30 with 3 ladies from Costa Rica (friends) following us in a separate car.  Fun time despite being 5 minutes late in seeing wolf 969 in Slough Creek; saw no others either.  But we saw lots of grizzly and black bears (2 new for me), a badger, lots of baby critters, several coyotes, a fox, and watched a pronghorn chase a coyote away from its baby at high speed for 5 minutes - amazing.

Elk

Coyote

Pronghorn (arrow left) chasing Coyote (arrow right).  Taken from a video; amazing speed.  They ran right through a bison jam.

Great Horned Owl with baby (at right)

Coyote just before chase began.

Taken from a mile away through scope.  An idiot guy waaaay atop a mountain saw the grizzly bear and 2 cubs we were watching.  Rather than leave, he closed the gap to take photos.  The bear charged him at first, then took the cubs away at a run.  JERK!

Cinnamon Black Bear on Mount Washburn

Rainbow.  Never as pretty as seen in person!

No idea.  I actually videotaped it, expecting him to be killed.
