MSU/TAMU is turning into a good game.

I’m immobilized on the sofa after a 101 mile bike ride around Talladega and surrounding areas today.
No complaining unless you rode over Cheaha.   Laughing

(Congrats.)   Applause E-Cred

There’s an annual ride called the Cheaha Challenge - 100 miles with almost 10,000 feet of elevation. I’m not sure I’m ready for that. The North Jefferson Century with 5,000 feet of climbing nearly killed me in August.

Phil, how long did the one you did, take you to complete?

Yesterday took 5:47:07 - 101.0 miles, just over 3,800 feet of elevation.

I've done Cheaha 2 4/5 times -- the first time I did 84 miles, to the top of Cheaha and back again (normally you go over Cheaha, down the other side, then back up over Cheaha.).  It wasn't as bad as they make it sound.  Much of the climbing is up and over Cheaha Mountain twice.  I'd recommend trying the 84 mile option if you're unsure, but really the extra miles don't add too much pain.  If you're already breaking the 6 hour mark, then you're ready.

I might give it a try next year or 2020. I’ve gotten much better at climbing since I moved to an area on the edge of town with lots of hills. My route from home is 35 miles with 1900 feet of elevation. My first ride on that route in June was 2:25, but I’ve gone as low as 2:04 now. I’m hoping to break the 2:00 mark by the end of the year.

I will say one thing Cheaha is not far from my house. I been there several times and it would be a tough ride to go up that mountain on either side. RTR!
