Austin laid an egg in the first round of the 7A playoffs. They lost to Mountain Brook 31-0. Four interceptions with two of them being pick 6's and a punt snap over the punters head giving MB the ball on the 1 yard line will do it. The headline of today's Decatur Daily is "Turnovers Haunt Austin".

All four Birmingham 7A Region 3 teams beat North Alabama 7A Region 4 teams.

Thompson beat Florence 45-14 in playoff 1st round.  Taulia Tagovailoa threw 2 TD passes and ran for another...

Big game for them next week.

RANBURNE — Christian Smith rushed for 208 yards on 18 carries to lift Ranburne over North Sand Mountain 32-24 in the Class 2A state playoffs.


Well my boys over at Ranburne came through last night and will play next week. That game will be tough. RTR!

Oneonta, while beating Brooks in the 5A playoffs, saw their punter kick one straight in the air, catch it, and run 30 yards for a first down.  Yes, it's a live ball if it never crosses the line of scrimmage.

I didn't actually see it, but I heard the story from someone listening to the game on the radio.  The Brooks radio guys were laughing about it being the worst punt they'd ever seen, then he took off running for a 30 yard gain.  Then they were waiting for the refs to bring it back.

Thompson beat Hoover 31-28 last night to advance to the 7A finals. They will play Central (Phoenix City) who beat R.E. Lee (my wife's HS).

Saraland and Wetumpka play for the 6A South while Pinson and Clay-Chalkville play for the North.

The state playoffs are in Auburn this year. It will be the best football that stadium has seen all year.

Well I see Piedmont is the only East Alabama high school team left. Oxford lost to Clay-Chalkville, and Ohatchee lost to Fyffe. RTR!

JHS is a great venue for this. It is already conditioned to a lot of High School football this year.

My daughter is in her second year teaching at Saraland Elementary. It may be the best public school system in the state. I am pulling for Saraland in the playoffs too.

I have a cousin in the Saraland area.  When I was in high school we played Satsuma (next to Saraland).  They were a horrible team.
