the most of the fisherman you meet practice catch and release and do you ever eat any of the trout

The last trout I ate was when my son was 9 years old.  We camped and ate the fish we caught.  That was about 1996.

Thursday fishing:

Left the room at 5am after reading the forecast. Ironically I was just bragging to LF that the weather folks here predict the wind/rain very well.  NOT.

The forecast was for 0% chance of rain, then 20% starting at 10am.  Wind was expected to be ~2-3 mph until noon.  WRONG.

I arrived at the lake by 5:15, and this is what was approaching (pic):  Hail, rain, wind.

Never say die, I waited it out, then went fishing for a short while.  Caught 5 trout and a huge whitefish.

Thursday continued:

The sun did come out, but as you see in one pic, the storms returned.

Pretty impressive Brown, except he was hooked in the side.

Hey Chechem with those clouds if you would wait the storm would blow the fish out of the water in your hands. RTR!

Yep, not surprised, but I hadn't heard of the woman being gored.  Getting within 15' of a bison is, well, STUPID!

Thursday afternoon:

I drove to Hayden Valley late yesterday afternoon.  Soon as I set up my telescope I spotted a pair of grizzlies about a mile away.  Unfortunately (for photos) they never got closer.

Then I moved to another pacle as a thunderstorm approached.  A herd of elk was nervous, and the swam to an island, as they often do if threatened by wolves.  No wolf, just a coyote, but seeing 100 elk crammed into a small area was impressive.  And they began fighting; guess it was too crowded for them.

After a heavy rain I spotted another grizzly near the Yellowstone River.

The rain returned, wind blew, and then it HAILED FOR 15 MINUTES.  I parked under a gas-station awning.  Hard to tell in the photos, but the hail was half a foot deep.  I talked with a guy on a motorcycle.  He was stranded; no way to safely ride a bike in that stuff.  The temperature had dropped to 40 degrees.  Wow.  I managed to drive home through the icy roads.

Man Chechem a lot o hail. One thing I saw that was child hood memory was the Sinclair gas station. I didn't know they made them anymore. They use to give out dinosaurs when I was kid. RTR!

They're the highest-priced gas in the western states.
Hope you kept the dinosaur.  They're valuable now.
