Wednesday June 20th:

I've included pics from yesterday's best fish.  Today was slow, despite the weather being BEAUTIFUL.  No rain, high of 67, and no wind.  I caught 18 fish, but most of them were chubs and whitefish.  I knew you'd be curious, so I took a pic of a chub.  Can you find the chub??

Excellent day at the lake.  I caught a pile of fish, mostly whitefish and chubs.  But I also caught the biggest Brown Trout yet:

More humble pics from ... Friday.  We saw 8 bears today.  Here are some of the pics.  Sorry, but some are close to duplicates.  Ricky, the cinnamon and black bears were as close as just 40' away (I was hiding behind my car).  The baby bears were 50 yards away.

Friday June 22nd:


Mama was asleep while the 3 bears played.  The one at left was kicking its feet in the air!


This Mama bear (not same Mama as above) is a cinnamon bear; baby is 3 years old and a black bear.

Grizzly a mile away.  It was about to rain, and was foggy.  There were 2 waaaaay up there.


Our state bird is the Yellow Hammer (Yellow-shafted Flicker).  This is a Red-shafted Flicker.

Those cinnamon bear sure have a beautiful color coat. Very cool that you were able to get that close without pulling a John Candy in "The Great Outdoors".

Usually my bear spray is on my belt.  This time it was in my front pocket; readily available.
