Great halftime adjustments by CAJ! Sad truth is that if Villanova and Alabama had traded athletes at the start of the season, the result would have been the same. Ever notice, that Villanova always shoots free throws well, always plays defense well, always runs their offense well and always hustles and makes smart plays. Alabama? Not so much. Bama could never even identify the hot shooter, much less stop him. On offense, Bama stood around probably waiting for Sexton to do something. A guy like Sexton might be what the offense needs, a guy who can make passes and run the offense. Only consolation for Bama is they won the "hair game"! If Bama is serious about BB, it is time to send CAJ back to the NBA and hire a guy who can actually coach, maybe Odom from UMBC.

I don't know if CAJ needs to be run out of T-town, but there were too many games when the team did not look well coached, or did not look like a "team", rather just a bunch of guys out to play BB.  Let's see if CAJ figures it out next year.  Definitely need some adjustments in the way we approach a game.

It was a disappointing season, but I wonder if we set our expectations too high for a team of mostly freshmen and sophomores?

Sexton played hurt through much of the SEC schedule. Hall made huge improvements from years 1 and 2 to this year and played well consistently. The rest of the team was inconsistent. The loss of Sexton will hurt, but there is a great foundation in place if the young guys improve.

I'd be surprised if we keep Sexton. He is projected as a #8 pick in the NBA.

I am definitely not on the "fire CAJ" bandwagon.  The freshman in this class were his first real recruiting class, and they were way above anything we have seen at Bama in quite some time.  Bama won its first Tourney game with mostly freshmen and sophomores (sophomores recruiting by CAJ without the full benefit of an entire recruiting cycle) in 12 years.  Yes, they made freshmen errors.  But Villanova is filled mostly with juniors (and "redshirt" juniors), the second highest seeded team in the entire Tournament, and they were shooting lights out on 3 pointers.  I don't think anyone could have beaten Villanova they way they played Bama.  And I don't attribute the loss to any coaching error.

The future is bright for this team.  Why quit on them now?   Huh?

Listen to this man.  He knows what he is talking about.  ^^^

I am not disappointed at all.  Early on I came to the conclusion that we would probably be a sweet 16 team.  We came up short there but the way the brackets worked out had a lot to do with that.  UK for example is a 5 seed and they are the highest seeded team left in their bracket.  Our bracket has 1, 2, 3 and 5 making it to the sweet 16.  We got in the bracket with all of the legit teams, they got in the bracket with the pretenders.

But the most exciting thing is what CP was talking about.  If you don't see a huge difference in recruiting and player development under CAJ you need to take another look.  The difference in Donta is phenomenal.

If Petty, Jones, Reese, and Smith improve half as much from years one to two and two to three as Donta did this team will be deadly in a year or two.  The talent is there, they just need to grow together as a team and develop more consistency.
