I don't deny that there are some areas where we need to improve.  It may or may not cost us a game down the road, that remains to be seen.  The 2009 offense went missing the whole month of October and yet we still finished 14-0.  The 92 defense carried the team the whole year and we finished 13-0.

If you are hoping for us to field a perfect team, you will always be disappointed.  Luckily the other side is not going to field a perfect team either.  But even with some flaws, we can still win a lot of games, maybe even all of them.  If it happens, it won't be the first time an Alabama team with some flaws won the national championship.  So I will take it week by week and enjoy the ride as long as it lasts.

How many of you guys worried yourself for nothing over the Penn State loss that never materialized?  Where we perfect that game?  Of course not, but neither where they.  Does this mean we will win all of our games this year?  Of course not, but I like our chances and I am thankful that it is football season, Alabama is undefeated (so far), and certain other schools are in for a long and miserable season.

Asking the O-line to block better and protect the QB better is not exactly asking for perfection. Yes, the 1992 team had many offensive problems, but their D was much better than this D in my opinion. Plus, we didn't face anyone in the SEC near as good as this years LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina, and maybe Florida. Also, we could have gotten very lucky, and I prefer we win based on our performance instead of waiting for lady luck to drop from the sky. I just don't understand why so many of my fellow posters get aggravated when someone is merely pointing out the facts. How fast we forget last year, when almost everyone was predicting 13-1 or 14-0 on this board and ignoring the fact we had lost 10 defensive starters, as if that was no big deal. Just saying.

Not to worry.  Here is where we are.

Some people contribute to a forum to be part of the winning team.

Some join to strut their knowledge.

Some join to build up false credibility with "inside knowledge" (usually the 12-year-old kids on Mom's computer.

Some like to predict, then say "told you so".

We're all like Ole Yeller; mutts.  Welcome, Mutts.

Sorry, got called away to deal with a "deer caught in the fence".  Anyhow, I was trying to quote Stripes:

Quote
Nobody cried when Old Yeller got shot? I'm sure.
[hands are reluctantly raised]
I cried my eyes out. So we're all dogfaces, we're all very, very different, but there is one thing that we all have in common: we were all stupid enough to enlist in the Army. We're mutants. There's something wrong with us, something very, very wrong with us. Something seriously wrong with us - we're soldiers. But we're American soldiers! We've been kicking ass for 200 years! We're 10 and 1! Now we don't have to worry about whether or not we practiced. We don't have to worry about whether Captain Stillman wants to have us hung. All we have to do is to be the great American fighting soldier that is inside each one of us. Now do what I do, and say what I say. And make me proud.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am not the least bit aggravated.  You guys raise valid concerns.  I'm only saying that I will wait and see how things play out and enjoy the season, especially while we are still undefeated.

Not to

Several of you guys were in school during the 60s like me.  You've seen lots of football.  I enjoy hearing all points of view (except maybe someone like dd stirring the crap).

My advice is that you should take the opportunity to ride the crest of this great time at Alabama.  It's been a long time (ever?) since we've been so successful recruiting and playing well for consecutive years.

Bottom line: enjoy it (if you can).  Roll Tide.

Exactly!  Remember how miserable we were in the decade prior to CNS?  We might not win the national championship every year, but we WILL be in contention for it every year for the foreseeable future.  We are bound to win multiple championships during this period.  Enjoy it while you can.  There will be down times in the future when all we can do is sit back and remember the good times.  Well, NOW is one of those good times.  Recognize that and enjoy where we are.

This is what I'm talking about. I asked a legitimate question and the response I get is a smart-aleck putdown. The post referred to several things, including the 1992 team, our performance in the last game, the O-line, and other things. If you don't want to discuss a subject or clarify what you're talking about, maybe you shouldn't post. I enjoy discussing and/or defending a point of view, wherther mine or somebody else's. I guess some folks don't like to do that. This is why some folks won't post, because if they don't agree with everyone else, they are asked why are they complaining, compared to someone else in a negative manner, or treated like a fool when they ask a question. I just don't understand that mindset, where they act like they are being personally attacked if you say something negative about the Tide. Folks, it's a game, not life or death and no one is attacking your family or you.

hs coach points out both the good and the bad in his critique. No one has ever had a problem with that. But when I see someone listing just the negatives, it gives me the impression they are almost pulling for Bama to lose,-- so they can be right.

Not saying anyone did that. You'll have to examine your own post to see if you fit the bill. Most us of try to put forth the positives while reserving judgement on the weaker aspects, until they actually become problems. RTR

My sentiments exactly. Are there concerns out there? Sure, but seems to be many more positives, and as several have said, let's see it play out first before pronouncing gloom and doom. While these concerns COULD become problems (and there is nothing wrong with pointing out said concerns) try for some balance.
