HSC, what are you seeing with Hurts making reads in the passing game? Does it look he has some predetermined or are they letting progress through several options? Also, I really don't like the over-reliance on the horizontal passes - they need to get vertical to keep teams honest. I hope they can start getting vertical sooner.

At times he does a good job checking down.  There were a couple examples in yesterdays game.  I would love to see a few more intermediate passes and he did hit a few yesterday.  As far as the horizontal passing game, I think they are trying to get him some confidence with easy throws but also try to get the ball in the hands of some playmakers.  In my opinion it also help keep from loading the box on the run.

One thing I kept noticing yesterday is the short behind the LOS screens one after the other. ELI kept mentioning it. Are the defenses expecting this so much now that we need to go away for a little while. Cause if we only gonna get to the LOS or maybe a 2 yd gain we are not advancing like we should or am I wrong? RTR!

I think it is an easy pass to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers for Bama.

a couple of extra notes.  RH had a hard time covering Evan Engram.  It looked like he was looking in the backfield to much and allowed separation.  Also, on the second series where Bama almost sacked Kelly in the end zone there should have been a safety called for holding on the Bama player.

Yeah, we were screaming about that on the in-game thread.  Tim Williams got tackled!

I didn't set my new recorder correct so I didn't really see the end of the game until later. This is the reason for the extra notes.  The was also a play where Hurts went out of bounds and was hit low which could have been called a late hit.  I was when they were going in for the last offensive touchdown for Bama.  Also, the could have been a good case for an offensive call on one of the touchdowns for OM late in the game.

Yeah, by the goalline.  And now (with a dual-threat QB) our team's success hinges on the possibility of one late hit!   Sad
