I learned I didn't get my picks in, during the first 20 minutes or so (see multigame in-game thread) of the first game(s) last Saturday.  The mistake cost me not only the game in progress but my ENTIRE weeks picks. I did not whine or pout, --just realized that rules are rules. See you late entries next week! Always check to see what date/time games are played. Hope this helps.

Who didn't get their picks in?  I don't see a problem with letting people who haven't picked yet to enter their picks before 11 a.m. Saturday, they just can't pick the Florida State v. BC game.  Fair, but not mean-spirited.

That seems mean spirited.

BTW, I just went in and changed my pick to FSU, then changed it back.  I thought this thing was locked.   

Not being mean spirited, but let's get this fixed.  Everyone is getting testy as the kickoff approaches.  Not me, but...

Often, weekly pick'em polls close by Wed. so they can include Thurs. or Fri. night games. One trick to making the polls more fun is to include as many televised games as possible. But when the games are listed, as on our sidebar, they are listed chronologically, so if you check the kickoff time on the first one, it shows the time voting locks. But other than arguing this small inaccuracy, "see ya next week" to the ones trying to sneak in after the contest started.

So SC, I just saw that you were one of the guys caught in the poll snafu. Ownership has its priiledges. Also I think maybe HL didn't get in?

No, I didn't find out it was a Thursday game until after I got back from basketball practice and the game was already on TV.  I still haven't decided what to do.  The people who got their picks in on time for that game and got it correct should get credit.  So I don't like throwing it out and replacing it with a different game.

I just looked back over the discussions that lead to the rules that were established in the beginning of the contest. It was discussed that the deadline be 11AM on Saturday. That was changed to the kickoff of the first game because there may be a Thursday night game.

I missed that discussion the first time.  WV does have a point, apparently.  I thought the deadline was Sat. 11 a.m., but it seems Thursday night games were covered.

I'm thinking the people who voted in time will have the FSU-BC pick count as a win or loss.  Some people have gone back and changed their pick, but I recorded the results the other night and will reset those picks later.  Everyone else will only have 9 games to pick from this week.  That way there is a slight advantage to those who picked before the game started, but if you didn't you still have a chance to win this week and are certainly still in the overall game.

I am deleting my picks for this week so no one will think I decided this way to benefit my own chances.  That seems like the best resolution to me.

I will fix up the picks once the 11:00 deadline passes and people are locked out from changes.

OK, I have this fixed now.  I removed my picks for the week.  It looks like Hannibal Lecter and Marshal Dillon where the only other two who didn't get their picks in before the Thursday night game started.  Their other 9 picks will count, but their picks for the Thursday game was deleted.

For the record, they weren't trying to cheat by entering a pick for that game after it was over.  They had to pick something for that game or it wouldn't let them save the form.

This seems fair to me, but if I have overlooked something please let me know.
