From Shoes To Jokes: The Latest On LSU Investigation

As we wrote last night, Baton Rouge police used a warrant to search the apartment of LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson.  The senior starter and three other players were involved in an early morning bar fight just off the LSU campus last Friday.

“I wouldn’t call him (Jefferson) the chief suspect in this case, but there are some strong allegations made against him,” police spokesman Sgt. Don Stone said yesterday.  “And that’s the reason for the search warrant.”

Police were looking for blood on clothing.  They reportedly confiscated 49 or 50 pairs of tennis shoes.  (The guy must be a regular Imelda Marcos.)  They also took a DNA swab from Jefferson.

Baton Rouge - Baton Rouge Police investigators confiscated 49-50 pairs of tennis shoes from LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson's apartment Wednesday in a search for evidence pertaining to a fight involving Jefferson and three other players, a source close to the investigation said.

In addition to blood samples, police are trying to match a footprint on the shirt of one of the four alleged victims in the fight that occurred Friday at Shady's, an off campus bar, the source said.

Investigators also took DNA evidence and other items from Jefferson apartment.

49-50 pairs of tennis shoes.  At a conservative amout $50 each per pair that is $2,500 worth of shoes.

SI.com is reporting that an eyewitness saw JJ kick someone in the face during the fight.

An eyewitness says she saw LSU starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson kick someone in the face during a bar fight that injured four people last week.

The account from 19-year-old Victoria Long was included in a police report released Thursday, a day after police seized 49 pairs of athletic shoes from Jefferson's apartment. Baton Rouge police Sgt. Don Stone wouldn't explain why police took the shoes.

Stone says no arrests are expected Thursday.
