In the 2011 football season, Alabama used two quarterbacks in its opening game - AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims. McCarron played better in the 48-7 victory over Kent State to step ahead in their competition, and he went on to lead the Crimson Tide to two straight BCS national championships.
