A 1,750-Acre Wyoming Ranch Is Asking $175 Million! Jackson Hole Wyoming.

A mere $1 million per acre.

"Casino and resort developer Richard Fields is asking $175 million for his 1,750-acre ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyo.

The asking price is believed to be the highest for a ranch in the U.S."

Beautiful place would love to have it. I doubt my fixed income for the rest of my life would by that one though. RTR!

I bet they got they made an error on the sq Footage of this $100,000 property--22,000 sq. ft.  maybe:

Quote
Walton Ranch has three miles of frontage on the Snake River and is under a conservation easement, though some development is possible. There's a 2,200-square-foot, three-bedroom main house and a manager's housing complex with two homes, a bunk house, outbuildings, barns and corrals. The seller is the estate of oil geologist Paul Walton and his wife, Betty, who assembled the property over decades. Billy Long and Ron Morris of Ranch Marketing Associates share the listing.

  Huh?

i don't think there is anybody in Wyoming.  If you go there you will have the whole state to yourself.  That is the only state that has never sent a single visitor to this site.  We've had visitors from 99 different countries, but 0 from Wyoming.

+100 e-creds if one of you guys buy the pacle and move out there to become our first Wyoming member.  Smiley

The reason land is so high out west is because the federal govt. owns 650 million acres ( 30 % ) of all America. Mostly in ten western states. Since debt crisis, there has been some talk out of Washington DC about selling off some Fed land. Feds own 42% of Wyoming.

The United States government has direct ownership of almost 650 million acres of land (2.63 million square kilometers) – nearly 30% of its total territory. These federal lands are used as military bases or testing grounds, nature parks and reserves and indian reservations, or are leased to the private sector for commercial exploitation (e.g. forestry, mining, agriculture).

They are managed by different administrations, such as the Bureau of Land Management, the US Forest Service, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the US Department of Defense, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the US Bureau of Reclamation or the Tennessee Valley Authority.

The top 10 list of states with the highest percentage of federally owned land looks like this:

Nevada           84.5%
Alaska            69.1%
Utah               57.4%
Oregon           53.1%
Idaho              50.2%
Arizona           48.1%
California        45.3%
Wyoming         42.3%
New Mexico     41.8%
Colorado          36.6%

You are right Coach, land values around Jackson are highly inflated simply because there just isn't a lot of private land. Plus it is one of the most beautiful places in the US. If it weren't for the cold winters, I would live there but just can't take the sub-zero temps. One drawback to living there is it is very crowded in the summer, over 3.5M visitors come through Jackson each summer.

Oh...smithgeneral...if Bootyess could get accepted to a graduate program in Wyoming...so can you.  Grin

Did I get the name right on that infamous TS poster?  He was my favorite poster of all time.  I will always wonder about his real identity.  Did anybody ever know?
