“Have faith in God.”
— Mark 11:22

Faith is the foot of the soul by which it can march along the road of the commandments. Love can make the feet move more swiftly; but faith is the foot which carries the soul. Faith is the oil enabling the wheels of holy devotion and of earnest piety to move well; and without faith the wheels are taken from the chariot, and we drag heavily. With faith I can do all things; without faith I shall neither have the inclination nor the power to do anything in the service of God. If you would find the men who serve God the best, you must look for the men of the most faith. Little faith will save a man, but little faith cannot do great things for God. Poor Little-faith could not have fought “Apollyon;” it needed “Christian” to do that. Poor Little-faith could not have slain “Giant Despair;” it required “Great-heart’s” arm to knock that monster down. Little faith will go to heaven most certainly, but it often has to hide itself in a nut-shell, and it frequently loses all but its jewels. Little-faith says, “It is a rough road, beset with sharp thorns, and full of dangers; I am afraid to go;” but Great-faith remembers the promise, “Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; as thy days, so shall thy strength be:” and so she boldly ventures. Little-faith stands desponding, mingling her tears with the flood; but Great-faith sings, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:” and she fords the stream at once. Would you be comfortable and happy? Would you enjoy religion? Would you have the religion of cheerfulness and not that of gloom? Then “have faith in God.” If you love darkness, and are satisfied to dwell in gloom and misery, then be content with little faith; but if you love the sunshine, and would sing songs of rejoicing, covet earnestly this best gift, “great faith

How do you know if you have enough faith?  Isn't it normal to have some doubt?  What can we do to increase our faith?  How do we tell God we have faith in Him.  How do we have faith, but also be proactive?

Thank you for these devotionals preacher.

To answer your questions I would say read your Word daily more and more. Let it become your Faith builder. God Bless!

I read a newspaper article written by Billy Graham once about Faith. Rev. Graham explained that having faith in God is similar to having faith in a light switch. You trust the switch and it is dependable. You do not necessary know everything about how or why it works the way it does but you trust it anyway. God is like that. If you put your faith in God he will not let you down.

Another good one, Ricky. If I can offer my 2 cents worth, General,I agree with Ricky, your faith will only grow as you study the Word more and more. First, if you accept that the Bible really is God's word and that it is totally without error (I believe these things) you can't help but be 'shocked and awed' by the things God has done. In Genesis you'll read how God gave Abraham a son when he was 100 years old and his wife was 90! You'll read where God made an iron ax ax head float on water for the prophet Elisha in the book of 2nd Kings and also in 2nd Kings you will read where God saved a besieged city by sending His angel of death to slaughter 185,000 enemy soldiers in one night. The list of His miracles goes on and on with the greatest and most significant for us being the resurrection of Jesus for our sins.
And yes, I guess we all have doubts from time to time, Thomas, who worked and walked daily with Jesus for 3 years even had doubts, but every time God overcomes our doubts, our faith grows stronger. At least it does for me, a filthy sinner, saved by God's grace and Jesus' blood. Sorry to 'preach', I'm a Sunday school teacher and I get sort of carried away. I hope something here has been helpful to someone.

^^^THIS^^^

So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  Romans 10:17

Everyone has doubts from time to time.  But faith is not about never having doubts.  It is about choosing to believe in spite of those doubts.  Just like courage is not about never having fear.  It is about choosing to face your fear and be brave even when you are afraid.  In this regard faith and courage are closely related.
