This Manziel stuff is driving Las Vegas crazy.

Point spreads are set to force bettors into making a calculated decision to back one side or another. And it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, has a huge impact on every line involving Texas A&M.

Even in the modern age of social media and breaking-news stories before facts become verified, line moveme

Manziel's attorney is now picking the starting QB for Texas A&M. Sumlin has lost control if you ask me.

Quote
An NCAA investigation continues to swirl around Johnny Manziel, but his attorney believes the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback will be starting when Texas A&M opens the 2013 season against Rice.

Jim Darnell, an El Paso, Texas attorney with NCAA investigation experience, told USA Today that Manziel is cooperating with the investigation. Darnell declined to discuss specifics, but he is predictably confident that his client will not miss any games.

We have to remember who Manziels attorney is dealing with, the NCAA.  These idiots have no clue as to how to investigate a case and prosecute it. Wink

The law firm seems to be a one-trick pony:

They convinced the NCAA that Scam didn't know his Dad took the money.
Yesterday, word came down that Manziel didn't know his "Uncle Nate" was running an autograph-for-cash business.

Will the NCAA fall for it again?  Does the Pope....  [well... censored] ?

If I remember correctly, the NCAA closed that loophole after the $cam case.

I know they did, as it occurred for Scam, but this is the tact being shown by A&M so far. Maybe the family-member loophole was closed; not a business using the player! Only news released since the lawyers were hired concerns Uncle Nate's role, and how JFF is cooperating completely (i.e., blaming Nate for everything!).

I thought it would come to this.  I bet the rules say nothing about a business profiting.

And we know why the family picked Uncle Nate -- they needed a fall guy.

In the Scam case the NCAA bent the rules to overlook Cecil Newton from trying to sell his son to Miss State. No money changed hands with Miss State. It was against the rules for a family member or agent of the recruit to solicit money (pay for play). The NCAA closed this loop hole after the Scam case.

At the barn they denied everything. They never offered money and Cecil never asked for it. Barners say the NCAA investigated and found nothing. The NCAA report said they did not find enough evidence to rule him ineligible because key witnesses would not cooperate.

In this case money changed hands. Maybe not to JF himself but money was paid for his signatures. I expect the weak NCAA to look the other way but what JF did is not allowed. IMO the only way to get busted by the NCAA these days is to turn yourself in.

The NCAA needs Manziel.  Unless A&M turns against him, expect nothing to come of the investigation; NOTHING.

Until a few days ago, the NCAA was selling Manziel jerseys on its web site.  That makes it hard for them to do anything without looking bad.  I think you are right, expect nothing from this.

No doubt we will destroy A&M in our football game, since Manziel's elbow must be ruined from all the autograph signing.
