JACK ALLEN

Know his name?  He's the center for MSU, and called the "lifeblood of the MSU offensive line".

Why wasn't that discussed last night?  I heard a mention once of him being a Rimington finalist.  Why couldn't such a star block Alabama's defense?

His summary:

. FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN (AP, CBS SPORTS, SI.COM)
• FIRST-TEAM ALL-BIG TEN (COACHES, MEDIA)
• TWO-TIME RIMINGTON TROPHY FINALIST (NATION’S TOP CENTER)
• BACK-TO-BACK FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN (USA TODAY, 2014)

CAREER NOTES: Fifth-year senior is in his fourth season as a starter on the offensive line and is one of the most accomplished offensive linemen in school history . . . tough, tenacious and versatile lineman can play any position on the offensive line . . . has played in 47 career games, including 46 starts (41 at center, five at left guard) . . . has only allowed three career sacks . . . back-to-back first-team All-American (2015: Associated Press, CBS Sports, SI.com; 2014: USA TODAY) . . . is just the third Spartan offensive lineman to earn first-team All-America honors twice (Dave Behrman, 1961-62; Tony Mandarich, 1987-88) and only the 15th player overall in school history . . . also a back-to-back first-team All-Big Ten selection . . . is only the fifth Spartan offensive lineman to earn first-team All-Big Ten honors twice (Ellison Kelly, 1957-58; David Behrman, 1961-62; Joe DeLamielleure, 1971-72, Tony Mandarich, 1987-88) and just the second center (Behrman) . . . two-time Rimington Trophy finalist . . . voted co-captain by his teammates . . . has registered more than 284 career knockdowns . . . one of 22 Spartans in program history to earn Academic All-Big Ten honors four times . . . was one of 135 semifinalists for National Football Foundation 2015 William V. Campbell Trophy (nation’s top scholar-athlete) . . . has accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl . . . named first-team All-American by USA TODAY in 2014, becoming the first Spartan offensive lineman to garner first-team All-America status since Flozell Adams and Scott Shaw in 1997 . . . earned his bachelor’s degree in hospitality business in December 2015.

Funniest quote from anyone associated with MSU, Connor Cook (looking up at the jumbotron); "They're f***ing everywhere". I think he stole that quote from Custer
Laughing

He discussed it during the post-game interview too.  Really funny.

When your butt gets torn up as bad as theirs did last night you don't look for excuses or reasons, you look for a 5 gallon bucket of an antibiotic to help heal the wounds. Wink

True.  I haven't gone back to watch the broadcast yet, but only heard him mentioned once last night.  He beat out Kelly for AA Honors.  I'll listen for his name and watch his play when I review the video of the game.  Just odd.

Measuring from what had been labeled as a very good offensive line, that might have been as good as our defensive line has played all year. They totally dominated.

Morning all. Coffee

Hope everyone is starting the new year off in a good way. I've been struggling with a bug, flu like, but it could be worse.

Bama basketball today but I think I will sit this one out due to this bug that I have. I did read this morning where Hale is expected to play today. CAJ says this team today, Norfolk State, is a very good shooting team and I'm guessing the game could be similar to the Jacksonville State game but I hope not. Maybe Bama learned some things from the JS game.

Have a good day everyone and stay warm.  Pray Cheesy

J, chicken soup and Nyquil. You'll be good as new in no time!  Wink

I sure hope the team plays better today than they did against Jax St. Maybe Hale playing will make a difference. Would love to see Coleman get hot again.

A giant trophy to Jamos, plus an e-cred, for winning the BOWL PICK-'EM CONTEST.  I never thought anyone could go 18-3, as he started out (maybe better, but I've forgotten).  Just a fun year, and 2 amazing finishes to games last night - WOW!

I fell asleep on the couch with Oregon ahead 31-0. I woke up at 11:00 and discovered they had won. Couldn't believe it! Then watched the rest of WV-ASU. Holy Cow! I liked to have never gone back to sleep. Anyway, a heck of a bowl season for J. Congrats ti him and everyone on the first page, CP, Chech, Red Elephant and Merk. E-cred to all of you! I was sooo close at 15-23.

  Indeed, "so close".

Hope Jamos is feeling better this morning.  I'm off to the gun show again, but will stay in touch as much as possible.

Lots of recruiting news today.  Bama is atop the Scout rankings, we apparently missed on Ridley #2, and we gained a big commitment yesterday.  Woot.

Good Sunday morning everybody. The 1st time to go and worship for this year. I hope everyone feels a great spirit and the day starts off the greatest year of your life. This may be the year the Lord returns and I pray I will be found innocent before him. RTR!
