Notre Dame's football schedule twice as difficult as Alabama's (Sound Off)
A collection of sports-related reader Sound Off calls from Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, with callers expressing their opinions on Alabama's football schedule, the strength of the SEC, football rules and strategy, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NFL's TV policies, Blount QB Quinterris Toppings and his hearse, and golf on Dauphin Island.

I want to comment on how easy Alabama's schedule is this year. If they want to see what a real college football schedule looks like, take a look at Notre Dame's schedule. They don't duck and dodge anything. Really, compare Notre Dame's schedule, from the first game to the last game, to Alabama's and tell me whose schedule is twice as hard.

Without even pulling up ND's schedule to do a side by side comparison, let me first say your SOS takes a huge hit in the BCS equation when you lose half your games.

Notre Dame does have a good schedule this year. Phil Steele has their SOS No. 1. We are 28. I won't apologize for our schedule. We play in the SEC and go outside the SEC and schedule pre-season No. 8 Michigan. I do wish we would continue to play one big game like Michigan and drop one cupcake and pick up a school like Southern Miss.

1.Notre Dame (2011 ranking: 14) – Notre Dame tops Phil Steele’s list and it’s hard to argue with him. The Irish open the 2012 season against Navy in Dublin, Ireland and also face another independent in BYU. The rest of the schedule is all BCS conference teams: Purdue, Michigan, Miami-FL (at Chicago), Stanford, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, at Michigan State, at Oklahoma, at Boston College, at USC.

Mostly Big 10/ACC with a service academy or 2 scattered in. USC is a bold move but they'll lose by 20. LOL at ND
