The second ranked Alabama softball team bounced back from a first inning deficit to score nine unanswered runs to knock off South Carolina, 9-1, in five innings in front of 3,265 fans at Rhoads Stadium Friday night. With the win, Alabama improves to 38-2 overall and 15-2 in Southeastern Conference play. South Carolina drops to 23-21 overall and 3-14 in SEC action.

I had a special guest to sit with us at the game tonight, Leewillie came and we had a great time.

Great game and great company,

Jackie Traina gave up a lead off homerun, then completed the 5 inning run rule game without allong another hit.

Wow, Jamos has some great seats.

Maybe we can get NALT and his family and any other CRS members that might be at the game to join us tomorrow, gametime is 4:30 p.m.

That would be great.

I looked at the Box  Score wrong,  Traina allowed a total of 3 hits.
My bad.

Boccia hits a two out two run walk off HR to beat USCe 7-5. Traina came in to pitch in the 5th and got the win.

Any SEC win is a good win and I am not complaining but we have to have someone step up as our # 2 pitcher. Jury struggled again today.

If you have not voted for Cassie today you should do it now. I think she earned it with the walk off HR.

Roll Tide.

It wasn't easy for the Tide ladies today but as all good teams do, they find a way to win. Locke pitched 3 goods innings, giving up 1 run but Jury struggled again today, but in all fairness to her, she wasn't very lucky. There was a ground ball that 2nd baseman Hayes should have turned into a double play but she drops the ball and everyone is safe and it only got worse from there.

Jury is going through a learning process in pitching at the college level and she has learned that it is much tougher than at the high school level. I think her biggest problem is she doesn't have a good offspeed pitch and this is a must if she is going to be successful. She has good speed on the ball but at the college level, they can hit fastballs. I hope she doesn't get discouraged, she really needs to have a good outing in a bad way.

Today's win runs Bama's record to 40-2 on the season and 17-2 in SEC play.

Congrats to one of my favorite players Jennifer Fenton. Yesterday she was honored with her Senior Day.

It was a humiliating day for SC and a good breakout for the Tide. After some late heroics to win yesterdays game in the last inning, it was the total opposite today. Bama scored 7 runs in the first inning and 8 more in the second inning to pretty much silence the Gamecocks.

Bama had 5 homeruns today, Lunceford, Hays, Hunt, Locke, and Traina and Lockes was a grand slam. Traina was the winning pitcher giving up 5 hits and 4 runs. Traina's record is now 25-0 for the season.

Bama's next game is Tuesday at home against Georgia State, the game starts at 6 p.m.

Jamos, the kids and I really enjoyed the game on Saturday.  I just hope that three years from now we'll be sitting there watching "K" play centerfield for Bama. Cool

Yeah, that was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed seeing the kids and how much they've grown. Hopefully that will become a reality for her, but it takes hours and hours of hard work but I know she can do it.
