2 of 14 shooting 3-point shots??

Quote
After trailing by only two points at halftime, No. 23 Alabama (8-3) fell apart in the second half and went on to lose 71-58 to Kansas State (7-1) tonight in Kansas City, Mo.

The Crimson Tide has lost three of its past four games after getting off to a 7-0 start.

Kansas State sank only 11-33 shots from the field (.333) in the first half and led 26-24 at halftime, but the Wildcats made 12-21 shots in the second half (.571). They also made 19-26 free-throw attempts in the second half.

Alabama played a terrible second half. We allowed 45 points and 63% shooting. We were out rebounded 38-30. K State got all the lose balls. We turned the ball over far too much for a good team. K State had a good crowd of 16,686 but they were not in the game until midway in the second half. We are now 8-3. We still have Oklahoma State in B'ham, Jacksonville at home and GA Tech on the road before SEC play starts. I expect us to win those games and go 11-3 in non-conference play. We have played one of the toughest schedules in the country with a SOS of 15. We do not need to give up on this team. Because of our young players we will get better as the season goes on. CAG has shown the last two years that his teams get stonger when SEC play starts.

Something was missing from the team last night and it's hard to say just what it might have been, maybe it was that Kansas State was that much bettter of a team than Bama is right now.

The usual, quick feet of the players, good passes of the ball, good but not great offensive plays, minimal turnovers, and decent rebounding were non-existant last night. The team looked like they were in a different league of play the second half of the game. They seemed to be playing hard but none of the mechanics to do all of the things to beat good teams never existed.

Hopefully this will be a good loss for Bama and they will go back to practice and improve on all the things that they didn't do well last night. It is still early in the season with a few non-conference games left to play, but if Bama is going to stay in the good gracies of the selection committee for the "Big Dance" they are going to have to win these next three non-conference foes.

As Bama found out last year, the non-conference schedule is huge in the selection committee's process and Bama has improved their schedule on that aspect, but they have got to win these games, not come close. RTR!!

I'll be happy if we win 2 of those 3.  OK State and Ga Tech are always tough.

We now have an RPI of 24 with 11 SOS. Our next three games are winnable. Oklahoma State and GA Tech have RPI's of 94 and 95.
