Alabama's Barrett Jones wins the Outland Trophy

Alabama left tackle Barrett Jones has won the 2011 Outland Trophy, which goes annually to the nation's top interior lineman.

The news was announced Thursday night at a college football awards show in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.


Jones is the third Alabama player to win the award, joining tackle Chris Samuels (1999) and tackle Andre Smith (2008).

The Outland Trophy has been presented annually since 1946 by the Football Writers Association of America.
