I just wanted to kick around your guys and gals thoughts on coaches that would be possible replacements if some of our assistants get HC jobs.

Who would you think would replace KS?
What about McElwain, will he stay or go? Would Saban change styles at all?

any others?

Yeah im bored and want to talk about something..lol

Well I tried to talk to the husband about this and he acted like I was the devil.  I have no idea why he'd be so attached to Dan Mullen after this season.  I think Dan Mullen is a sucky recruiter which is why the program will continue to go down IMO.  I can't believe how touchy he was on the subject.

If he goes to Penn State, it will be a good fit because they will have a "sucky" program for a long time.

Ok looks like CJM may be gone and CKS is interviewing so, where does Saban go for replacements?

Also I know this is taboo, but say Saban retires, I mean if he wins he will have 3 Ntl titles. Where does Albama look?
Bama is set up for a coach to come in and win, thanks to Saban so I have no hard feeling if he did retire, or even if he left for the NFL (which I dont see).

Oh man, I don't even wanna think about it.  I was hoping he'd hold off a few years to let Kirby get some HC experience at A&M then mama can come calling once again Smiley  I know Kirby went to Georgia but in my mind anybody that stays at Alabama long enough will have Bama grow on them.

Just also want to say about Nick Saban that I really do believe he stays at Bama or retires.  I don't see him going to TX or another university.  I could easily be wrong, but his daughter is a Bama girl and I think because of that their family has special ties to Bama.  Could be wrong!  I think a pretty girl saying "but daddy..." can even work on a tough Nick Saban.

When CNS leaves Bama, his next stop will be at his lake home in Georgia riding in his boat.  Wink

As far as McElwain and Smart leaving, there's a good chance of that happening strictly for their resume. I'm guessing though that CNS has known for some time of this happening and probably has his list of replacement candidates in hand.

I think Saban will not retire in the next couple of years. He actually appears to be enjoying himself. As for an OC, Blake Anderson from USM might be a good choice. He's moved up the ranks there quickly and has done a good job with their offense. As for a DC, tough call. There aren't many good defensive teams outside the SEC, so the pool will be small. Maybe Chuck Heater from Temple. He was on the Florida staff at one time. Temple was #3 in the country in scoring defense.

Saban has mellowed considerably the last couple of years.  I don't know if it was winning the title in 2009, or maybe the storms this year gave him a new perspective.  But he seems to be a lot more relaxed than he was when he first came to Bama, at least off the field.  I would not be surprised if he sticks around for another 4 or 5 seasons.  I believe he is 60 now.

As to the OC, a lot of people who hate our conservative offensive style are probably hoping he will bring in a gunslinger.  Not going to happen IMO.  The next OC will be somebody who is capable and willing to run the same style of offense.  The tone is set by Saban.  He gives the OC the parameters to work within that he wants for the O (strong running game, short ball control passes, occasional deep ball to keep them honest), and the OC just works out the details within that framework.  I don't expect any major changes regardless of who the next guy is.

For the DC, just plug and play baby.  All we need is someone who has a good foundation who is willing to work and learn under the master.  It will increase the work load on Saban for a little while though.

Of course both guys better be able to recruit.

You got to be kidding. He PLAYED at Georgia. That says everything. Plus, his wife played BB at Georgia. If he ever gets the call to be HC at Georgia, he's gone. However, there is talk of giving Coach Richt a contract extension, which means he's not going anywhere soon.

It is being reported that Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora has accepted the North Carolina job. Where will Gus Malzaln go now?

Ted Roof has accepted the DC position for Central Florida. No surprise here. I know the boogers must be glad to see him leave.

ESPN is reporting that apparently Kevin Sumlin from Houston is going to take the Texas A&M job.
