Courtney Upshaw with another ferocious performance for Alabama

OXFORD, Miss. - Courtney Upshaw served a one-quarter suspension to begin Saturday's game at Ole Miss.

Alabama coach Nick Saban declined to detail the infraction after the 52-7 victory.

When Upshaw finally got in the game he was ferocious and disruptive.For the season, Upshaw has 20 tackles and three-and-a-half sacks. He also had the 45-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 38-10 win at Florida on Oct. 2.

"Courtney did a really good job, played a really good game," Saban said. "He didn't play in the first quarter. ...We have internal rules and things we have in our program. Courtney's been a great ambassador and representative for the University of Alabama. He did a good job for tornado relief and raising money and did a great job. He made a poor judgement and part of what we decided to do was not start him in this game."

Don't you love how discipline on this team is kept private enough to protect the dignity of the player, but public enough to satisfy the fans.

Perhaps it was the unsportsmanlike and out of character kick against Vandy that put him in the doghouse???  It went uncalled in the game but could have been costly in a closer game...maybe CNS was trying to nip that behaviour in the bud

I agree it was punishment for last week's game.

You are right about the reason for the discipline, it had to have been for the Vandy game, poor decision by Upshaw. But as Chech said in the above post, I do love how CNS applies necessary discipline, he doesn't need anyone to tell him to do so.
