Good stats. It's always nice to be #1 in the
final poll. I don't think Miami did
that as many times.
10 Times Alabama has finished No. 1 in the final AP poll of the season, more than any other team. The Crimson Tide finished No. 1 in 1961, 1964, 1965, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015. The AP poll started in 1936.
After the bowl games, there is no talk about the SEC being down or overrated. Instead, the SEC is back to its rightful place as the dominant conference.
There was some talk yesterday about the PAC12 maybe slipping. You know, the PAC12, that conference at the beginning of the season was being hyped as maybe as good, or better, than the SEC from top to bottom.
My personal opinion is that the PAC12 was never as good as hyped, and also it isn't as bad as they are now presented. Stanford blew out Big10 darling Iowa, and the PAC12 did finish with the second best bowl record, albeit playing easier opponents than some other conferences. The overrated conference this year was clearly the Big10, which put 4 teams in the top 12 despite playing soft schedules, and their top two teams getting blown out in their respective BCS Bowls.
