Very good article.

So here’s the explanation, and if it doesn’t jibe with what we’ve been told year after year, season after season, that’s just too da#@ bad.

Nick Saban, the most painstakingly meticulous, process oriented, detailed driven coach on the planet; the guy who has told us over and over what you invest in the organization is what you get out of it, has decided to turn over his program — and the most important position on the field — to a player who has been on campus a little over two months.

“I thought I knew how to play football, knew what to do on the field,” said Alabama All-American safety Landon Collins. “I got here and realized I had no idea what I was doing. I’m a much better player now, after all that coaching and playing in those big games, than I was when I got here.”

Who's to say that none of the other QBs are at the same level of readiness AJ was in 2011? Coker seems a like a win-win situation to me.  If he comes in and he's as good as advertised we get a talented starter for one year while the future QB develops a little more. If he's not ready to start we're no worse off than we were before and have another option if the starter gets hurt or struggles halfway through the season.

This is the key for Coker to be the player we all are hoping for. He must be willing to humble down and accept what the coaches will try to teach him in a very short period of time. What he learns on the practice field is only a small portion of what the defenses will throw at him and it will remain to be seen as to how well he can read and adjust to those defenses. He has the arm and feet to do the job but the mental aspect of it won't be seen until they tee it up for the first game.

Coker will only be on campus a few months before the season starts and has to learn the Alabama system and gain the trust of his teammates and coaches. However, it is not like a freshman coming into the program seeing the speed of the college game for the first time. He spent three years at FSU which will help him. His learning curve will be faster than someone one year removed from high school.

He has a lot of work to do to be ready but I think he will be our starting QB in the first game. Our OL and running game need to help him out in the first few games until he is comfortable with the offense.

The bar is being set way over his head(COKER). Is he really, really good and people want to try and break him with to big a load? Either way I also think we are in a win-win situation here. Sims will be pushed harder and he will grow more faster than first thought. We will at least have 3 starters vying for the same job. RTR!

The key to our offensive success is going to be the "O" line. Neither the passing game nor running game can excel if they don't do their job. Let's hope they are better than last year. Coker will need time to throw, and the "O" line has to make that happen. Everybody says Cristobal is a great "O" line coach and I think he is. Except for the Kouandjios, he was working with raw materials last year. This year should be better. At least we can only hope.

The season can't start soon enough for me.

Yeah, I'm a little worried, especially early in the season. The first 5-6 games could be a little rocky, especially if the O-Line is average or less. The O-Line coach has a huge reputation and this is his 2nd year, so we should see some major improvement.

Having Lane Kiffen as OC probably works heavily in Coker's favor.

Either way there has to be improvement no matter. These coaches have had 2 years this being the one that should show the turn around starting. CMC was a grand player on the Miami team that blew everybody away. Now teach these players to learn to begin understanding the O-Line life. I hate to say this but, Championships talk. You know what happen when we fell off, but now we shine or else. God Bless Alabama. RTR!
