He was considered a top candidate, and now the Washington interest in Alabama's offensive coordinator is taking the next step.

Doug Nussmeier will interview for the vacated Husky head coaching job Thursday, ESPN reported. Brett McMurphy reported Nussmeier and Boise State coach Chris Peterson would meet with Washington officials about the opening...

This was rumored for several days.  Now it's confirmed.   Sad

Unfortunately for us, he's a good fit at UW. Good OC's don't stay long anywhere. They always move up to that next step. If he gets the job, I will wish him well.

Having said that, who does CNS go after if Nuss leaves?

Yes, he is a very good fit at Washington -- that's where we got him from.  And he grew up on Portland, Oregon, so he's a Pacific Western guy.  It appears Washington is interviewing Nuss and Chris Peterson from Boise State -- Peterson has turned down multiple overtures, is he actually considering a move now?  I think the odds are in Nuss's favor.

I don't know who Bama would get as an OC.  I wonder if Saban will look for someone to move the offense more toward those defenses he has a hard time defending, while still retaining it's pro-style identity.

Mike Shula?

So who all is in the market for an OC?  Florida?

Who knows? I had never heard of McElwain or Nuss before CNS hired them. I bet CNS already has a few names in mind just in case this happens.

I guess he got out while the getting was good.  Boise has been on a slide the past few years, and their future prospects look slim with the new playoff system and Boise's decaying conference.

Now what happens to Coach Nuss? Does this hurt our recruiting in any way? Cause players will know he might leave at any time for a HC job. Especially Texas. RTR!
