We have 11 who will be sophomores and 5 who will be juniors playing summer league ball. This will help them develop and improve their game. Seven are in the Cape Cod League. This is a good wood bat league equal to Single A minor league. There is good competition and coaching there. I don't know anything about the other leagues but I am sure it will be good for the players.
With the end of the 2013 baseball campaign, the Alabama Crimson Tide sends 16 players to play in leagues during the summer. Seven players are participating in the Cape Cod League, four in the Northwoods League, two in the each of the Florida Collegiate League and Texas Collegiate League and one in the New England Collegiate League.
The Tide’s group of summer league players includes 11 players from this year’s freshman class, and is rounded out with five players from the sophomore class. The 16 first and second-year players for 2013 are a balanced bunch, as eight of the players are everyday position players, and the other half are a part of Alabama’s pitching staff.
