This was not your typical tournament. Check out the competition. The field included: No. 1 Southern California, No. Alabama, No. 3 Duke, No. 6 UCLA, No. 8 Arizona, No. 9 Stanford, No. 12 Washington, No. 13 Arizona State, No. 16 UC Davis, No. 22 Texas A&M, No. 23 Texas, No. 30 California, No. 32 No. 35 UNLV, Colorado, Oregon, South Carolina and TCU. This was a championship caliber field.
The SEC Tournament is next week in B'ham. This team could easily repeat as NCAA Champions.
With freshman Emma Talley leading the way, the second-ranked Alabama women's golf team rallied Sunday from a four-shot deficit to win a tournament in Tempe, Arizona, by nine shots.
Talley earned her first individual championship in the PING/ASU Invitational to help the Crimson Tide win its school-record third consecutive tournament. Alabama has won five events this season.
The Crimson Tide will compete this week in the Southeastern Conference Championship at Greystone Golf and Country Club in the Birmingham, Alabama, area. The three-day tournament starts Friday.
On Sunday, the Tide shot a season-low 11-under-par 277, the second-lowest round in school history. It went into the round trailing No. 3 Duke by four shots on the par-72, 6,233-yard Karsten Golf Course and finished the event with a 19-under-par 845, also the second-lowest total in school history.
