Bama played Stillman tonight in an exhibition and they sure didn't look like they are ready for the season to begin. Stillman is a small school located in Tuscaloosa and they gave Bama all that they wanted but I feel that this was Stillman's big game of the season and they played a very hard game.

The thing that dissapointed me most was their inability to shoot the basketball, nothing has improved there from last year. The intensity is there but that will only take them so far, they've got to learn to shoot the basketball because they will see a lot of zone defense as they did last year. The big men looked much better around the basket, Gueye is a much better player than he was last year, Jacobs looked season fit, and Engstrom has a hurt foot.

There was a bit of bad news, Lacy pulled up lame chasing a loose ball, it seemed to be his right knee. He limped off the court so hopefully it's nothing serious. Bama will host South Dakota State Friday night in their season opener at 7pm.

The Tide made only 34.3 percent of its field-goal attempts in the first half (12-35) but sank 60 percent in the second half (18-30).
This sounds a bit too familiar.

I can't tell you how disappointing this is to me. They should have blown them out by 35-40 points. This is definitely a downer and makes me wonder how much Grant stresses outside shooting.

I expected a 40 point easy win. I thought we would shoot the ball better this year. I am very concerned about injuries. Steele, Engstrom and now Lacey have missed playing time and the season has not started. We only have 10 players and we need every one of them.

I expected Steele to be a floor leader, but I doubt he will play much with a nagging injury. I had not heard about Lacey being injured. Does anyone else have any depressing info they want to pass on about the BB team? Jamos & pmull have me ready to go find a tall building.

CAG stressed that this was an exibition game and the team wasn't trying to win but instead work on stuff.  Hopefully, he meant it.

What were they working on? How bad they could shoot from the outside?

Senior guard Andrew Steele (groin), junior center Carl Engstrom (foot) and redshirt freshman guard Retin Obasohan (finger) did not participate.

We only played 7 scholarship players and 2 walk-ons last night.

Thanks for the box score. Very interesting. Dakota Slaughter has some potential. He was an All Star BB player in basketball crazy Indiana, plus he is smart. I hope he can develop. I wish I knew why Ben Eblen, guard, left the team. He would have been a major player off the bench, he would have been part of an 8 man rotation.

 Houston, we have a problem

Pollard 35 min. 15pts-- Good game to get him in the line-up.

1-8 on 3s. You can't teach or somehow motivate 18-23 year olds to shoot. This is what we had last year--this is what we have this year. Tenacious defense and speed will again be our hallmark- slashing and cutting to the rim with the bigs playing cleanup off the rim.

You are right about Slaughter being able to help the team and it's sad about Eblen passing up his final year. Eblen couldn't shot a lick but he could run the team from the guard position and play solid defense. Slaughter is a player, he has a lot of natural instincts when he has the ball. He's got a ways to go with his defense but he doesn't mind mixing it up with the other team anywhere on the court. He and Gueye impressed me the most as to bringing some much needed help to the team
