Tide's Trent Richardson named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Alabama junior running back Trent Richardson has been named the Southeastern Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.


Crimson Tide left tackle Barrett Jones has been named the league's Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Both players were instrumental in leading third-ranked Alabama to a 38-14 victory over No. 14 Arkansas on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Richardson, a 5-foot-11, 224-pound star from Pensacola, Fla., had 21 touches for 235 yards. That broke down to 126 yards rushing on 17 carries (7.4 yards per carry), a game-high 85 yards receiving on three catches, including a 61-yard touchdown on a screen pass, and a 24-yard kickoff return..

His best game yet. He didn't miss any holes Saturday and what impressed me as much as anything was the great job he did without the ball. He picked up blitzers and protected AJ well.

My daughter who works at Gulf Breeze Baptist hospital had a bet with a doctor who is an Arky grad. He made the comment to her this morning that "Arkansas sent a bunch of boys to play a man's game".
