1. Physical play - The defense allowed 88 more yards per game last season than it did in the 2012 title run. Close that gap and the Tide will be in better position play after New Year's Eve.

2. Spread the wealth - Amari Cooper was the playmaker in 2014, but he'll be in the NFL this fall. There's still a healthy stable of young receivers who return, but it's hard to picture another Cooper emerging at this point. Lane Kiffin will have to replace 73 percent of the receiving yards from last season, so there will be plenty of opportunity.

3. QB play - Duh! - The Ohio State model goes out the window here. But Alabama returns a 6-foot-5 passer with a strong arm in Jacob Coker. He'll be penciled in as the favorite entering spring practice after completing his first season as Blake Sims' backup. Coker isn't quite as speedy as Sims, but he ran the option in high school and Cardale Jones showed what 6-5 quarterbacks can do to tacklers.

Coker is 6'-5", 230 pounds.  Cardale Jones is 6'-5" and 250 pounds.  Not sure if those 20 pounds would make much of a difference or not...

Yep, and my preference would be 98-0.  However, I will also take 2-0.  98-97 is UNACCEPTABLE though.

As a rule, most football coaches are a very arrogant lot.  They believe that they can coach better than the next guy and look for opportunities to prove it.  Coach Saban will replace the coaches he lost and I really don't think we will be the worse for it...

As a rule, most football coaches are a very arrogant lot.  They believe that they can coach better than the next guy and look for opportunities to prove it.  Coach Saban will replace the coaches he lost and I really don't think we will be the worse for it...

I had hoped Saban would hire Ed Orgeron to coach the D line but LSU got him. For all of his antics, Orgeron is one heck of a D line coach.

Orgeron is a heck of a recruiter.  His players made Houston Nutt look good.
