Game notes: Bama vs AU

Lindsay was telegraphing the snap on shotgun/pistol.  He snapped the ball right after he looked forward.  As soon as he starts to move his head you know when the snap is coming and can time it easily.  The one time he hesitated on 4th and 7 (a designed play call to draw them off) they came flying across and got an offsides penalty.

MANY people thought the injury to Kelly wouldn't matter.
I thought about that with every snap issue and missed assignment.  We missed Kelly.

This game was lost because of missed assignments on both sides of the ball along with the lack of focus which caused penalties that hurt the team.   There were too many mistakes on both sides of the ball for Bama to win   AU played hard and made the plays at the end to win the game. 

Three missed field goals by Foster
One made field goal lost due to line movement
Unable to gain 1 yard on 4th inside au 15
Many bad snaps
Several dropped passes
Missed assignments on every defensive play


Alabama played their worst game of the season. 
au played one of their best games of the season.

I am not sure why Drake did not run in the second half.

Drake disappeared after Fowler's TD catch.

I think he was disciplined, but I do not know.  If you watch that series he is being pretty mouthy and boisterous.

I truly felt that the die was cast when BAMA did not go for it on their first 4th and short possession.

I knew that this was the game where Sunseri would be missed the most and not having Kelly compounded the personnel loss.

Not to take anything away from au, they beat BAMA, but a team often wins with help from their opponent.

Drake may have been disciplined but he continued to play on special teams.

When Drake was in there they were constantly trying to rip the ball away from him on every single play.  Maybe CNS was concerned that they might eventually be successful and decided not to take any chances.  I think it helped him to be more proactive with ball security to know that they were going to go for the strip every time, so in the end they did us a favor IMO.

I thought the game turned on Trey Masons run when AU fell behind 21-7. 5-6 players, maybe more, had good shots and didn't bring him down until he had gone for a first down. AU then went on to score. Stop Mason at that point Bama has a good chance to get the ball with a chance to go up 28-7before the half. Also, gotta give the offense and defense credit, they put Bama in position to win, the kicker had three chances to produce and did not. My take is he shares the biggest part of the blame.

I don't blame him as much because if AK doesn't flinch the FG is good.  If AC doesn't drop the TD pass then they don't have to try for the TD.  If DW holds his temper Bama has a first down running more clock and Bama probably puts the game away.  You can't put the blame on one person there were enough mistakes that cost Bama the game.  That being said you are correct if Bama make the stop right before half time it could have been a completely different game.
