As the gameday neared, Coach Saban stated in one of his many interviews that this game would be like two heavyweights going at it and the winner would be decided in the final round. Just how accurate was this prediction?

Just a month ago, Bama played LSU in Baton Rouge and in my opinion earned the right of the comparison of the greatest boxing match in boxing history. It was a game where both teams were throwing their "haymakers" and daring the other to retaliate with Bama winning at the very end of the game on a do-or-die play that Yeldon ran in for a touchdown. Who would have ever thought that this great football game, won by Bama, could be over shadowed so quickly and in the same season. Well, it happened in Atlanta with Georgia being the opponent and it was everything that any football fan had to enjoy. There was nothing but "haymakers" thrown by each team for 60 minutes and it's a shame that one of them had to lose.

Bama has a history of being able to play in many great games but it's not just luck that this has happened, it's because the University of Alabama made a great hire in 1957, the hiring of Paul "Bear" Bryant. Bear set a standard at Alabama that has continued for all of these years and regardless of who the next coach at Bama is to be, Bear Bryant is the measuring stick for each of these coaches. Nick Saban happens to be the next coach now and he has met the challenge by far to uphold the standards set by Bear Bryant. There are many, including me, that say he has earned the right to be compared to the legend of Bear and I think that comparison is right. It's a different era with different rules, but with the same results.

Bama will now play, who I think is their number one foe outside of the SEC, Notre Dame and wouldn't you know it, it all started in the Bryant era. Will it be Thrilla in Manilla III, there's a good chance of that happening, but the beauty of this game is that Coach Saban has a chance to again solidify his comparison to the great Paul "Bear" Bryant that again I think he truly deserves. Roll Tide!!!

This SEC Championship Game is an instant classic. Two good teams going at it for four quarters. Everytime one team would score the other team would answer right back. I give UGA a lot of credit for coming into this game well prepared and ready to play. I did not think they had it in them to go toe-to-toe with us all game. It is ashame they will fall behind Florida and not go to a BCS bowl. I have always felt the loser of this game should not be punished in the bowl pecking order.

What a great win by the Tide. Another SEC Championship and a shot at the National Championship. Our third National Championship game in four years. This time we get to play Notre Dame. Alabama fans my age have been wanting another shot at Notre Dame on this stage since 1973.

Congrats to the team on a hard earned victory. Lacey and Yeldon had big games running behind our OL. AJ had a solid game. Amari Cooper just keeps getting better. He had the TD late in the game but his best play was a terrific catch on a deep jump ball in the first half. The defense gave up too many big plays but they stiffened up when they had to.

Coach Saban showed the nation again why he is the best coach in the game. His decision to go for two in the third quarter was questioned by everyone. It was the difference in the game. There is a world of difference leading by 4 rather than 3 at the end of the game with UGA in field goal range. The two point play was no trickery. Just hand the ball to Yeldon and he walked in. CNS knew our OL was having their way with UGA's front seven.

We get to enjoy a little basketball and all the other bowl games before we play again in five weeks or so. It is a great time to be a Bama fan. Roll Tide.

Some of us here remember a certain 10-10 tie game in 1966.  If I hope one of you folks that go to the NCG will have a big sign that reads:  The TIDE doesn't play for TIES.

Yep, two good summaries.  Cooper's first half catch was NFL material.

Saban said at his half-time interview that the team that ran the ball best would win, and he was right.  (I don't think he expected a blocked field goal TD return).

Turnovers almost killed us, but it was the offensive line, dominating the front, and Bama's two RBs that took over the game in the end.

Don't forget also that Georgia was running for big chunks of yardage after Jessie was injured but that all ended when he returned to the game. When he hit that runner on the 3rd and one from about their own 10 yard line to force a punt, that was huge in Bama winning. Bama was able to run some valuable time off the clock as well as force Georgia to use up all their time outs.

I was in Tulane stadium for the Sugar Bowl and watch ND go  the length of the field for the winning score. I was at UA when we thought we settled the score with the Bicuit sack. But revenge will come full circle when we play ND for the title. There will be payback for all to see.

Guys...as glad as I am that we won this game...at the very end, it looked like Richt was right...they just ran out of time. We have to make sure the D gets shored up before ND.  We can't let them move the ball at will because I believe the ND defense may be better than GA. They are definitely tougher against the run. We have to be ready to shut them down on D and take advantage of any opening they give us on O. Great win for us, but really exposed our defense and pass protection.  Coach Saban is a master when he is given weeks to prepare for one game, so I could not ask for a better coach to make corrections. If the team wins this one...they definitely will have earned it this year. Not bad considering this was supposed to be a "rebuilding" year and we were actually supposed to contend NEXT year. It is a great time to be a BAMA fan! Roll TIDE!

Nope, didn't forget that.  I said something about it on the WallE thread.  We got an impact performance from the big guy -- I hope he's 100% for ND, we will need him.
