Keys to the win:
Castilla, Guilbeau, and Kamplain pitched 5 scoreless inning of relief.
The bats came alive in the 5th inning with timely hitting.
Booth threw out 2 base stealers, VMI had no stolen bases.
Need to improve: Gave up 2 unearned runs on an infield error.
No long ball hitting.

A good opening day win. The pitchers only gave up one earned run. We a costly error that accounted for 2 unearned runs. We scored 8 runs on 10 hits. The link below is the RollTide.com story and box score: Click here for link

8 runs on 10 hits is pretty efficient. I haven't looked at the box score but hit and run baseball is exciting to watch (MHO) and more consistent than depending on raining HRs. RTR

I hope it's the beginning of a good season for the Tide. I'm very encouraged by the pitching from last night. That's where it all starts. It was also good to hear that there were no stolen bases on us.

Add 7 walks to that hit total.
