RB Justin Taylor has changed his mind about playing for the Tide after he was asked to enroll in 2013 rather than this year, Taylor commited in Feburary of 2011. There are a couple of things that prompted the Tide to ask this of him, the new rule of signing only 25 players and the fact that he had knee surgery and CNS didn't think he was far enough along with his rehab to compete this year.

Unfortunate, but understandable.  Hope he heals fast and completely.

I hope he thinks this over and not react to some bad advice, somtimes patience is a wonderful thing. His high school coach seems to be the most upset about this.

If it's a money issue, he won't be able to wait.  Like I said, I see both sides of it.
He accepted an offer, and now it's been withdrawn.
Alabama doesn't want to buy damaged goods.

These new signing rules were put into place to help the kids. However, this an an example where over signing by a few would help the school and the student athlete. When you can only sign 25 you can not have any non-qualifiers whether it is grades or injury. IMO, CNS honored the scholarship by asking the player to delay enrollment by one semsester. In reality this probably would have been good for the player. He could get healed up, enroll in Jan 2013 and go through Spring practice. He would also have a redshirt year available if needed.

A few weeks ago we got an unexpected commitiment from T J Yeldon who is a 5 star running back who has already enrolled in school. This made 3 star Justin Taylor, who is slow recovering from injury, less important to our signing class. By only being able to sign 25 recruits and the high profile players waiting until late in the process to commit you will be seeing more of this.

This was my thinking on this, I think him waiting would be best for him so he could compete in the spring practice of 2013. If he did enroll now, he would probably be redshirted to heal up.

I agree with you guys.

As of yesterday, he did not de-commit.  He only said he was going to look around to see what his options where.  When the AJC and others started saying he de-committed, he was very upset and tweeted that he had NOT de-committed and he wished that reporters would stop putting words in his mouth.  Then he said he had talked to enough analysts and was not going to talk to them any more.

I haven't seen anything today, but as of yesterday I think he was stilling thinking things over.  It sounded like the AJC reporter was ticked off at CNS for coming into Georgia and getting their recruits to come to UA, so he was trying to stir up some trouble and make CNS look bad so future recruits would stay home.

It will be interesting to see how all of this unfolds.

they announced here on WNSP this morning (right before the scooter pump)
that he was a goner ... they were citing ACJ as the source though ...

Sounds like he is a good kid.  With the Yeldon commit and grey shirt offer, he does need to consider his options, I think.

With what I read of him his desire to be an Alabama Football Player, it would be very hard to get him to decommit. Like was side up the posts, the AJC is probably trying to mess up CNS. I think he still plays with the Crimson Tide. JMHO! RTR!

I would not be surprised if he sticks with Bama after he has a few days to think things through.  However I would not blame him if he wanted to try his luck somewhere else.

He isn't a goner yet, still considering his options. It is very noteworthy to remember the AJC's part in all of this to blow this thing into a newsworthy issue, misquoting him to imply NCAA violations etc. Taylor is a HUGE Bama fan, his coach/legal guardian is a little bit upset, but it is a serious issue considering his injury and is glad he didn't have a commitment or offer pulled, most other high profile schools would be wary to stick with the kid at all. A good indication is that both in-state schools (UGA, GT) aren't stepping up and offering a scholly in their current class.

I think you're right. It would be great to see him come back 100% and be a great contribution to the team. With his injury, I'm not sure his options will be that plentiful.
