Alabama rolls out red carpet for 5-star Rashaan Evans' official visit

It's been a busy weekend for Auburn High School star Rashaan Evans, who visited with coaches from Alabama and Auburn on Thursday night before heading to Tuscaloosa for his official visit to Alabama on Friday. Read more...

"Rashaan was very excited about it," said Evans' father Alan Evans. "It's really a tremendous honor to be called the best player in the state, especially this year when there is so much great talent in the state of Alabama. Rashaan has worked extremely hard his entire high school career. He set goals for himself in 9th grade and now he's starting to see the fruits of that labor."

Before learning of his new ranking, Evans spent his weekend in Tuscaloosa, where he was hosted by a familiar face during his official visit to UA.

"Reuben Foster was Rashaan's host for the weekend. They were obviously good friends and teammates when Reuben was at Auburn High," Evans' father said...

"The one thing I learned from this visit is that things that people said about Alabama were not really true. A lot of people said the coaches really do not care about the players, but I actually found out they want them to have the highest level of success on the field and in life, as they want the type of players who are looking for both."

Kind of fits in with the Ed Stinson thread doesn't it? Sounds like it depends on whether or not the player puts forth the effort for both. If he doesn't, why should the coaches invest themselves in him? For those players that do, so do the coaches.

Makes sense to me.
