This is a very good article by RollBamaRoll about the five new players that will join the team next year.

Quote
Anthony Grant's job has become a pretty hot topic amongst Alabama fans, but one of the biggest pros for keeping him is this incoming class. Tarrant and Kessens should immediately get a lot of minutes, and I even expect both of them to start for the Crimson Tide. Coleman, Norris, and Mitchell have great potential, and each brings Alabama something that the Crimson Tide currently lacks. Combine that with the large amount of experience this team will have with guys like Levi Randolph, Rodney Cooper, and Retin Obasohan still around, and one could make the argument that things are looking up. Upcoming Sophomores Shannon Hale and Jimmie Taylor looked solid in their freshman campaigns; here's hoping that they can develop better than many of our players have in recent years.

The article is interesting but a little too optimistic in some areas. Playing for Longwood is a LONG ways from playing in the SEC. I agree that Tarrant is our PG and I am excited about him and Coleman from Wenonah. One of our returning players, like Levi, Cooper, or Obasohan really have to step up their game and provide some solid leadership. I am ecstatic about the potential of Shannon Hale, the key player for next year. If Taylor can show some major improvement, we will be a force in the SEC and out-of-conference. I'm very interested in who else we might be able to recruit.

Longwood played a pretty good OOC schedule. They played Arkansas, Creighton, Georgetown, Seton Hall and VCU. In those 5 games Kessens avg. 7.6 pts and 6.2 rebs. Those games were all early in his freshman season.

Arkansas       17 pt     11 reb
Creighton       2           4
Georgetown    10         5
Seton Hall       4          2
VCU               5          9

They say he got better as the year went along. He has also spent a year in our system. I think he will start for us next year along with Taylor and Hale to give us our best front line in years.

The Arkansas stats inflate his overall stats, but he still shows some promise. I hope he can do some major rebounding for us.
