Chris Fowler is out and Rece Davis is in as ESPN’s College GameDay host, according to Those Guys Have All the Fun co-author Jim Miller.

Couldn't really tell from the article, but I hope it was a mutual agreement between ESPN and Fowler. I like Fowler. I like Rece, also and know he'll do a good job.

I don't think ESPN has put anything out yet for the reasoning for the change but as always there are those doing some speculating.

Maybe he's trying to reduce his workload or his salary is so high ESPN trying to save money.

Fowler took Mushmouth's place in the booth last year with Herbie for the big Saturday night games on ABC.  I started to say maybe it was too much work for him, but then I realized that Herbie is on that same morning show with him and has been for as far back as I can remember.



Having said all of that, I do prefer Rece Davis, but only if he continues to do College Football Final at the end of the day.  Now that will be a long day if he can pull it off.

I like them both.  I don't think it is a demotion.  Just the other day I saw Fowler doing network coverage of the Australian Open Tennis matches.  So I do think he is a busy guy.

I think they both are moving up. Flower was on Game Day for 25 years. Davis is an excellent replacement. I imagine both guys are happy with the check they take to the bank each pay period.
