Good article but sounds like Brown is alibiing why things have gone wrong.

The inevitable is the inevitable and reality is reality. And that’s why it looks like Mack Brown is going to be fired as Texas’ coach by the end of the season.

On Monday, amid rumors that Brown was going to announce his retirement, I asked him if he’s going to stick this thing out for the long run. And it didn’t surprise me one bit when he answered this way:

If I'm a Texas fan, I would want Mack gone for one reason, he does not win championships. He has been there 16 years and won 2, count 'em, 2 conference championships & 1 National Championship. His record is deceptive since he averages 10 wins a year, but he is playing in the Big 12 and he has feasted on teams like Kansas, K-State, Baylor, Ok. State, Texas Tech, Missouri, & Iowa State. It's like Ohio State & Michigan in the Big Ten.
