TUSCALOOSA -- The eager anticipation of spring practice at Alabama somewhat resembles the new leaves beginning to sprout all around town.
There are plenty of new vibrant colors; a fresh look for a fresh season.
The same could be said of Alabama football, and certainly its offense. But what are the five most pressing questions facing Alabama this spring?
1. Who will emerge as the starting quarterback?
In this writer's opinion there is a better chance of discovering the correct ingredients and measurements to Nick Saban's winning formula than pinpointing the Crimson Tide's No. 1 quarterback. Everyone has an opinion, but the only way there will be a definitive answer to this question in the next month is if something unforeseen occurs (injury, transfer, etc.). The top two candidates to replace Greg McElroy are AJ McCarron and Phillip Sims. We have seen glimpses of McCarron's talent (his 47-yard pass to Julio Jones against Tennessee) to his tolerance for pain (the spanking administered by Saban). We have yet to truly see what Sims, a redshirt freshman, brings to the table.
