Offshore as in supply to rigs/production platform boats? I've got a whole arsenal of work boat/crew boat stories from the 80's. So if you don't want stuck on a "milk run", stop the Layla/porker jokes immediately if not sooner!

What I call work boats are big and slow, while the crew boats are much faster. When a company man (oil company rep) or tool pusher (boss of rig crew) would "run off" a hand, they had to arrange his transportation back to "the beach". Depending on how mad they were, the guy could go home by helicopter, crew boat, or work boat,--work boat being the slowest. Some work boats went from rig to rig delivering supplies. We called that the "milk run". He could be home in 15 minutes by helicopter, or a week to ten days on a work boat "milk run".LOL
