THE STAR ATTRACTION
Trey DePriest
Every year, DePriest's role increased a little more. As a true freshman, he was racing Vinnie Sunseri down the field on special teams. The hip injury to C.J. Mosley forced him into second-half action against LSU in the BCS title game, but he didn't see more regular duty until his sophomore year. DePriest has been a big part of the Alabama defense since then and that role will only grow in Mosley's absence.
Off the field, DePriest is soft-spoken, but he'll be expected to take more of a leadership role. That was the case for Mosley entering his senior year and his NFL stock only improved in its wake. DePriest quickly shut down any talk of leaving early after making 65 stops as a junior, 7.5 in the backfield. He has speed, which is important in this increasingly fast sport. It'll be tested even more without a Mosley and Hubbard sharing the field this year...
DePriest gets his chance as a leader.
